I love the Benro tripod. It rocks. The only thing I wish they did was to put the rubber grip on all 3 legs instead of of just one. And the price rocks too!!

Being 6 feet 2 inches tall, I ordered this particular tripod because I wanted something tall enough that I wouldn't have to bend down in an uncomfortable position to look through a viewfinder. And this tripod does not disappoint. It is tall. Very tall.  With the three tripod legs fully extended, and without raising the center column, it can put my camera well above my head height. If I were to extend the center column I would need a step ladder to reach the camera.  This is definitely not a compact, small or lightweight. It weighs almost 7 pounds and is still 31 inches when fully collapsed. I intend to use it for fixed position landscape and astrophotography so I'm not worried about having to lug this thing around very far from my vehicle. I had first considered the carbon fiber Mach3 (TMA48CXL) but at double the price I didn't think it worth the cost to only save 1 pound in weight.

Hi, was wondering if one might be able to save some weight on long hikes when using this tripod with the short column instead of the center column. What is the weight of this tripod with the center column swapped out for the short column? Thanks:)

By using the short column for the Benro TMA47AXL Extra Long Series 4 Mach3 Aluminum Tripod, you would save a bit less than a pound in weight.

Just bought thusvtripod and impressed with the solid feel of it. Haven't put it to use yet other than put my big lens on it with a jobu head. Just wondering if any of the lenscoat leg protectors will fit and which ones? Thanks.

I checked with Lenscoat and they said the Lenscoat LegCoat Wraps 518 would work. The Gitzo Series 4 & 5, 1.45-1.7", 18" length. I ordered them thru B&H and they do a good job. Occasionally they might slip down but can be retighten. The occasional slip isn't a big deal to me, I am pleased with them..

A 56mm diameter sounds about right. The Sirui K-10x Ball Head will fit without issue on this tripod.
