I was really excited for this tripod and the feature that allows you to flip the center pole upside down to get really low angle shots. The first time I test out this feature and flip the pole around, there is a plastic piece in the center or the tripod with an alignment groove that you follow and that piece snapped in half with minimal effort. The tripod is now unusable. I was surprised that a plastic piece was being used for such a critical feature of the tripod. This does not give me confidence that it will last a long time. Im hoping it was just a defect with the one I got.

Just bought thusvtripod and impressed with the solid feel of it. Haven't put it to use yet other than put my big lens on it with a jobu head. Just wondering if any of the lenscoat leg protectors will fit and which ones? Thanks.
I checked with Lenscoat and they said the Lenscoat LegCoat Wraps 518 would work. The Gitzo Series 4 & 5, 1.45-1.7", 18" length. I ordered them thru B&H and they do a good job. Occasionally they might slip down but can be retighten. The occasional slip isn't a big deal to me, I am pleased with them..
