Benro TMA28A overview

  • 1Description

Support up to 30.9 lb worth of gear with the TMA28A Series 2 Mach3 Aluminum Tripod from Benro. Made from aluminum, the 4-section legs are secured via twist locks and extend to a maximum height of 61.2". The center column can be replaced with the included short column to allow the tripod to reach a minimum height of 12.4". One of the legs unscrews from the tripod, attaches to the center column, and with the addition of an optional head converts to a monopod. The rubber feet can be swapped out for metal spikes so that the tripod can be used on hard surfaces, such as ice, or soft surfaces, like carpeting or a lawn. A ballast hook on the center column allows for the addition of stabilizing weight, and the included carrying case protects the tripod during transport. A 3/8"-16 threaded stud on the mounting platform lets you attach a head of your choice.

    Benro TMA28A reviews

    TMA28A Series 2 Mach3 Aluminum Tripod is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid, affordable option. We purchased this tripod to use for interior shooting in low-light environment, and to use in the field for macro shooting insects. The tripod is very solid, and easy to use. We've paired it with a Siriu K-40X ball head, and they work great together. The monopod option is nice, but it's not super-fast to switch out, so it's likely not something we'll be using that often. It will be more likely that we'll select which way we want to use it before heading out to shoot. All of the hardware seems solid, it is easy to adjust the top hinges to make the tripod sit low. While not as lightweight as the carbon fiber models, it is light enough to move around with in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great tripod I purchase this tripod to use with my video camera. I needed something that folded up small enough to put in my suitcase as I film events overseas. It is also lightweight enough to not ad too much to my luggage allowance. The spiked feet are really helpful for shooting out of doors on soft ground. My video camera is light enough so that I don't need to use a sandbag with the tripod but I love that is has the hook in case extra stability is needed. The legs extend very easily and smoothly compared to my Induro tripod. The monopod feature is great as I am also a photographer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing wrong with this tripod I specifically purchased this tripod to use in harsh environments, mud, crud, water, sand, etc. I could not bring myself to use my carbon fiber Gitzo in these conditions. This tripod very well built, is smooth to setup, and is rock solid holding my heaviest load 5D, 70-200 2.8 with a 2x extender. The leg angle adjusts in three different positions providing a stable platform in streams, small rivers or any uneven ground. Compared to my Gitzo (also a series 2) it's clearly not as smooth but otherwise it seems just as solid. The case is well built and will hold my RRS Ballhead (BH-40) attached to this tripod with room to spare. For the price and all the included accessories I think this would hard to beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, Sleek, and No Regrets The 4lb weight feels heavier than advertised in person, but I cannot imagine it being that much heavier than the carbon fiber models that weigh only a pound or so less but cost a hundred or more than this model. So it's very sturdy to say the least, no need to worry about the wind jittering your shot(s). The hinges are strong and the tripod is stout. The twist locks are tight too. Coming from a flip lock system, this tripod is strong and easy to use. I have yet to use the monopod, but in due time I'm confident it will serve its purpose. As for looks this tripod is sleek. The finish is a matte carbon gray and the blue is galactic. That's the first word to come to mind and best way to describe it. I was initially looking at Manfrotto for my GH4 and various lenses, but I'm glad I went with the Benro. For the price, I got more than I expected. This tripod may even be overkill for my camera and current setup, but that's a good thing as it leaves room for more camera/film gear in the future. So if you're on a budget or even looking to save money for other camera accessories, the Benro is a solid competitor against the more recognizable names in the business. In fact, by purchasing these legs, which are great, you can focus more on the tripod head that's even more important. By saving money on the tripod legs, I was able to couple this with the Benro IB1 ball head, which I am also very pleased with.
