The ASC2 Aluminum Short Center Column from Benro replaces the standard center column on Benro Aluminum 2 series tripods. Using a short column allows you to take full advantage of the widest leg angle on these units, so that the tripod can reach its minimum height. The column features a standard 3/8"-16 thread for mounting most tripod heads.

Benro ASC2 Reviews
Hook Socket Specs are hard to find.
I purchased this to replace the short stem my Benro TMA28A Series 2 Mach3 Aluminum Tripod which came with a spare short stem that has a solid plug. The hook socket on this part is the standard 3/8 that likely comes with many other tripods. However my particular tripods hook is built with something like a 5/8 thread. Although it is not directly compatible a standard eyebolt makes up for it with a cost of a couple bucks. Great quality product but hard to locate the accurate specs. This is the only reason it gets 4 stars.
Solid, reliable, overpriced
I bought this to use with my Benro Wild 2 (which, as far as I can tell, is the same as the Mach3 TMA28A/C Series 2 tripods just with a green paint job). It allows the tripod to get lower, but also makes it possible for me to carry over the tripod over my shoulder with the legs spread. Like all my other Benro gear this is well-machined and has a professional finish to it. $34 is a bit steep for a simple piece of aluminum--especially since the AC2 full sized replacement center column is only $30--that's about twice the amount of metal AND the AC2 includes a the spring-loaded hook on the bottom of the column. I wish Benro would at least include that weight hook with this short column.
