This quick plate fits very well my Nikon camera and works well. The workmanship is outstanding. Well designed, it would not spin even when fastening screw is not fully tight. The only complaint I have is retaining screw used. The screw should have large slotted flat head, which allows to be tighten with coin or other tool. Instead they used regular pan head screw, which does work well poorly and destroys otherwise very well design piece.

Is the tripod screw tightened with a coin slot, allen wrench, or a fold down finger handle?
I have the Olympus version of this QR plate, but presume it's the same design for the Nikon version. Not sure what you mean by the tripod screw ... This plate screws onto the base of a camera, not a tripod. The plate then fits into the head of a tripod while attached to the camera. When you remove the camera the plate is still attached to the camera, not to the tripod. But to answer what type of tool is needed to tighten the QR plate onto the camera - it is a provided allen 'key' of sorts. It's small can can be easily carried in a camera bag, pocket, etc. to remove the QR plate if it's not wanted for some reason. I remove my plate when I'm not planning to use a tripod and want to carry my camera in a leather case. Hope that helps.
