I bought this hood for my Canon RF 24-240, because, not being an L lens, the 24-240 does not come with a hood, and I just feel naked using a lens without a hood. The Canon hood, not available at the time of this review, is over twice as expensive. As far as I can tell there is no vignetting even with a UV filter attached to the front of the lens. The snap on / pull off feature seems to work just fine. The Canon lens cap fits just fine too. I noticed that there are threads on the inside of the hood, so it is possible to screw a filter either between the lens and the hood or inside the hood itself. And because it is a screw-on hood, it should be possible to put either a variable ND or circular polarizer between the lens and the hood and then rotate both the filter and hood as a single unit (I couldn't try this because my filters are 77 and 82 mm.), although with the additional thickness of the filter, there might be a little vignetting. All things considered I don't see any reason to buy the Canon hood instead of this one.

Worth it

After an unsuccessful search for a replacement hood for my Tamron 300mm zoom (72mm and one produced by Tamron is not available from B&H), they suggested this two piece kit. It works. It was the right fit and it holds on to the screw in adapter for use, and you can reverse it for storage, and you can still use the original snap in lens cap. For the money, it is so worth it.

Easy to use. Just screw the base to your lens and the hood to the base. Very easy to attach, remove and reverse for storage. Also it can spin out of position while in use though it has not been a problem for me.

Fits and works perfectly. Appears to be at least as sturdy as the fragile (and very expensive) Sony original. A very good item!!

Love this lens hood. This replaced the one that came with my Nikon camera that I cracked. I like it much better. I especially like the method that was designed by the manufacturer to attach it to the lens. Much more solid method than the Nikon one.

It's a good product but . . .

This is an excellent, well made product. It works well if you keep only one filter on the lens. It is too awkward with a polarizer. I just ordered the over priced Canon hood.

It fit my lens well enough, it can not be reversed to store. It will not fit with the lens hood on. I am happy with it, flare is a major problem in south fla.

Just wondering if it's the Fujifilm XF10-24 is too wide for it? Will it work on the XF10-24?
Asked by: Frank
That lens would be too wide for this hood. You would get vignetting unfortunately.

Can this item be attached to a step up ring, or does it have to attach directly to the lens? On my smaller lenses, I use a 58-72mm step up ring because I only have 72mm filters, but then I can't use the lens hood. If this Would this Sensei hood attach to a step up ring?
Asked by: Patrick
Can't answer because I am not familiar with the step-up ring.If it has threading the likelihood the quick clip should hold, but best to take it to a shop where you can try.
