This Sensei 72mm Quick Clip Lens Hood is designed to mount quickly and easily onto your camera lens to prevent lens flare in your images. This two-part design allows you to leave the threaded ring on your lens and easily clip on the hood when needed, or easily reverse the hood when you find it unnecessary. This lens hood is for use with internal focusing lenses and non-rotating filters, and accepts center-pinch lens caps. To avoid any vignetting, the Quick Clip is best used with lenses above 20mm for 35mm format and with lenses above 15mm for APS-C format. In addition to keeping stray light out, it can help protect your lens and minimize accidental damage from everyday use.

Could this be used as a substitute for the SONY ...
Could this be used as a substitute for the SONY RX10-IV hood? The hood included with the camera attaches easily but is so hard to remove I'm concerned about damaging the mechanism.
The Sensei 72mm hood will fit the RX10 camera but since this hood is not made for the lens on the RX10 Mark 4, it is possible the hood might vignette the lens or allow a flare. The included Sony hood that comes with the RX10 Mark 4 will never vignette the lens and it would be the best at blocking flares.

Will this fit the Canon RF 24-240mm? looking for an alteritive to spending $40.00 on the Canon.
It fit my lens well enough, it can not be reversed to store. It will not fit with the lens hood on. I am happy with it, flare is a major problem in south fla.

Yes, the Sensei 72mm quick clip lens hood will fit onto the threads of the Sony 16-35mm f/4 PZ lens. However, due to how long the hood is, there is a good chance it will vignette at the wide end of the lens.

That lens would be too wide for this hood. You would get vignetting unfortunately.

Can this item be attached to a step up ring, or does it have to attach directly to the lens? On my smaller lenses, I use a 58-72mm step up ring because I only have 72mm filters, but then I can't use the lens hood. If this Would this Sensei hood attach to a step up ring?
Can't answer because I am not familiar with the step-up ring.If it has threading the likelihood the quick clip should hold, but best to take it to a shop where you can try.
