Marantz MM7025 Overview

The MM7025 Stereo Power Amplifier from Marantz is designed to deliver powerful stereo sound. This amplifier features a discrete amplification design for robust sonic delivery. Each channel in the amplifier delivers up to 140W of power at 8 ohms and 170W at 6 ohms. It is also equipped with balanced and unbalanced input options, allowing you to connect a wide variety of pre-amplifiers and processors. This amplifier is suitable for use in dedicated 2-channel audio systems or as an addition to multi-channel surround systems.

Current Feedback Discrete Power Amplifier
This model is equipped with a current feedback amplifier section that uses the same push-pull circuit found in Marantz's SM-11S1 Hi-Fi power amplifier. This amp is designed to provide increased operating stability, and high-speed, wide-ranging, high-density playback. The current/voltage conversion amplification section in the latter part of the power amp is equipped with a Wilson current mirror circuit that amplifies to the high sound range with low distortion.
Large Power Transformer
The final stage of the power amp is equipped with the same LAPT (high-efficiency power transistor) that is installed in the SM-11S1 Marantz Hi-Fi power amp, providing improved instant power supply capability. The power section is equipped with a large-sized transformer. As one of the essential parts of the power section, this unit is equipped with a notable Marantz 15,000 μF / 71 V×2 block condenser. These improvements to the power supply are engineered to provide a powerful and presence-filled sound.
High-Quality Design
This amplifier is equipped with a chimney-shaped heat sink to efficiently process the heat emitted from each channel along with quiet cooling fans. A high-sensitivity temperature sensor IC is used to control the cooling fans, adjusting the rotation speed to match the amount of heat generated by the amp.
Balanced and Unbalanced Inputs
For installation flexibility and maximum compatibility, each channel on this amplifier is equipped with balanced and unbalanced inputs.
Custom-Installation-Ready
This amplifier has an IR flash input that supports custom installations and DC trigger input and output terminals.
Remote Power Control
When a Marantz AV pre-amplifier/process such as the AV8003 or AV7005 is connected to this unit, this amplifier's power can be switched On/Off together with the pre-amplifier's power supply. This connection is designed to reduce sonic interface as much as possible.
Additional Features
  • Marantz reference-grade filter capacitors and high-speed output transistors
  • Gold-plated, high-grade loudspeaker terminals
  • Flasher input, DC trigger input/output, and RC-5 remote control connectivity
  • Detachable power cord (IEC320 2-pin type)
  • Porthole display with blue illumination accent
  • High instantaneous peak current design
  • Low impedance continuous drive capability

Marantz MM7025 Reviews

Solid amp for the price, powerful, musical

I bought this to be the main for the 2 channel fronts in my home theater system for better quality listening to just 2 channel stereo. This amp delivers. I have a Marantz AV8801 preamp running in 7.2 with a 5 channel OSD amp to the other speakers. The speakers are all Klipsch with the mains RP-280Fs. It really woke up the mains and the sound quality is more audiophile like, very transparent and smooth. I only have a few hours on the amp so far, so I can't say if it is sounding better after break in, but it sounded pretty darn good right out of the box. I think it's a great amp for the money, and one of the rare amps that has balanced inputs at this price point. I would love to hear what it could do with a set of Cornwalls.

Great sound at an affordable price.

The MM7025 replaced a vintage power amplifier and gave new life to my dedicated stereo system. I have both analogue and digital sources, a PrimaLuna tubed preamplifier and B&W 702 S2 floor standing speakers, and this Marantz has proved to be a fundamental link in this chain. It leans a little to the warm side (which I like) and improved the sound of my speakers, with tight bass, very sweet highs, and transparent voices. At this prices level, I can't imagine anything better. 100% recommended.

This power amp does not have tone control. A preamp would be paired with this amp, and provide for tone control.

Can I hook an equalizer to this Marantz stereo power amplifier?
Asked by: gerry
Unfortunately newer Amplifiers (and Receiver Amplifiers) no longer offer the ability to connect a separate Equalizer like the older models. The current models no longer provide Input / Output ports for Equalizers.

Does the Marantz power amplifier sounds like an amplifier with an equalizer?
Asked by: gerry
The Marantz MM7025 provides power only, and would be paired with a preamplifier, which would have inputs for your components and equalization adjustments. The Marantz AV7706 11.2-Channel Network Preamplifier with HEOS, BH #MAAV7706 is an example of a preamp that would work well with this power amplifier.

Can I hook an equalizer to the Marantz power amplifier?
Asked by: gerry
I don't have an equalizer so I am not sure. I would thinks that an equalizer could be an output device from an amplifier and then connect via RCA to the MM7025. I would call a stereo store that sells Marantz and they would likely know immediately.
