    Westcott 1787 reviews

Scrim Jim Cine Solid Black Block Fabric (8 x 8') is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from too thick, too heavy..... I ordered this to replace the original 8 x 8 Scrim Jim set.....the new style redesigned "Cine" frame is indeed better - sturdier, well made, not flimsy at all, but be warned, you will need new panel clamps (the old ones are 1/8 in too thin to use), and this new solid material is so thick and heavy (picture a Matthews 12 x 12 for comparison), that it will barely fit in the case designed for it. with the previous Scrim Jim design, I used to get the frame, 2 panel clamps, 2 grip heads, and both black and white solids in the old case with no problem. On this new version, even with the significantly larger case designed for the new Cine frame set.....once you get the frame, the clamps, the 8 x 8 silk and black solids, it is virtually impossible to zip. This is a very sturdy and heavy duty black solid, but much less portable than the old material. Solution: If you're after portability, buy the old style, if you're after movie set durability buy this one and order a Lightware case for it.
