Celestron TrailSeeker 16-48x65 Overview

The 45° angled-viewing TrailSeeker 65 16-48x65 Spotting Scope by Celestron features a versatile 16-48x zoom eyepiece to provide views from generous vistas at the lower power to tight, detailed images at the higher end. Proprietary anti-reflection XLT fully multi-coated optics allow for efficient light transmission through the optical path for crisp, high-contrast views. Dual focus offers precise image control by allowing a preliminary coarse focus, which you can then refine using the fine-focus control for a tack-sharp view.

The angled eyepiece permits comfortable glassing whether standing, sitting or lying flat on the ground. You can rotate the scope in its tripod collar a full 360° to put the eyepiece in the best position. The tripod foot has one 1/4"-20 threaded brass hole with two inset holes (front/rear) for attaching to a tripod. The TrailSeeker 65 has a nitrogen-filled waterproof housing that won't fog up in humid conditions and features a sliding sunshade to keep glare or raindrops off the objective lens. To facilitate digiscoping, a T-adapter is included so you can mount a T-ring compatible with your DSLR to the eyepiece. For adverse weather conditions, a stay-on carrying case is included, which can be left on the scope during use—zippers fore and aft open for the objective lens and the eyepiece. The TrailSeeker is designed to use standard 1.25" astronomical eyepieces, so in addition to the included zoom eyepiece, you can use other eyepieces on your spotting scope to achieve higher magnifications, wider field of views, etc.

After identifying the magnification range I wanted - about 16X for finding a target to more than 36X for detail (my previous scope's max.), I selected the Celestron TrailSeeker 65 based on price and reviews. It fulfills my nature-viewing interests. The optics provide a clear view, even at 48X, and focusing is easy and precise - a great replacement for my 25-year-old18X-36X scope, which was horrible at 36X.

the Tripod Mounting Thread on this scope is too ...

the Tripod Mounting Thread on this scope is too small for the screws on either one of my tripods (Gitzo and RRS). What's the best solution? I'm not going to buy another tripod.
