I want to use my coax to hard wire my Apple tv via ethernet. Is this plug n play or will i have to call my internet provider to activate a new port? I have a coaxial modem in one room but not where I need it to be. Will this network adapter be in conflict with my modem?
That's exactly what I did and things worked fine - no conflict with modem at all, it was essentially plug and play. I also put a third one in so I have three rooms connected by the coax adapters: my office (with computers, printers, cable modem to Internet etc.); home theater room with internet-connected TV, appleTV and Blue ray player; and a third room with another TV. All are happy as clams.
