I never use off brand replacement cartridges. These aren't cheap but still the best quality for printing. B&H has them at a reasonable price and fast delivery.

How many copies can be made with a new cartridge?

I would agree with WD. I have not counted the exact amount of sheets. What I will say is when one color is empty, you can still print. Each cartridge displays it's on ink level. I also have a HP printer and when one ink is out it shows all ink out. It goes by the total number of pages printed. It doesn't know what color ink is used it just shows all ink is out.

I would offer two suggestions. 1) Put in a full compliment of cartridges and monitor to see which ink supplies are used, 2) you might call CANON USA for tech support and ask them. My gut feeling is that you will need for all tank slots to be filled. I wish I could give you a more definitive answer. Good luck.
