VideoMic Me Directional Mic for Smart Phones is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 99.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you care about audio I shoot a lot of videos of my 2 daughters (3 & 1 year-olds) with my iPhone, and while video quality is more than acceptable, I didn't like the audio quality, especially in outdoors. With this mic, I get superior audio quality. It may not be too noticeable in controlled settings, but you will definitely see how sound behind the camera is significantly softer. I haven't tested outside yet, but I know its quality because I have been using VideoMicro for some time now. One suggestion is that I wish there was a case for the mic, since I usually carry it in my pocket, and I don't want it to get dirty or dusty in the headphone jack.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Idea, but mine didn't work very well. I love Rode products. The VideoMic Me is ideal for iPhones, especially outdoors. For closeup selfies inside, the difference is minimal. More noticeable difference further away and when the mic is rear facing while shooting forwards. Outside with the included dead cat wind protection, it does a fantastic job of blocking out the wind noise. Unfortunately, mine had sporadic ticking and buzzing that ruined the audio. Thanks to B&H, I've sent it back for replacement. I like this product so I hope the next one works better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Maybe i just got a bad one? I film most of my YT reviews with a phone and the one thing that has always been lacking is the audio. I needed to find something that would improve the audio quality of my videos and this looked like the solution. Unfortunately the very first time i used this it recorded a "popping" noise and ruined the first takes i had done. I am not an A/V expert by any means, but i replicated this result with two other phones so i doubt this issue is user created. I submitted a request to exchange this for a functional one, and i will be glad to update my review once the exchange is completed and i test the mic again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Using Sony Xperia Z5 without crackling/poping! Hey everybody. I bought this microphone for vlogging. And I was sad when tested it with my Sony Xperia Z5. There were cracking/poping sound. I returned it and get another one. The same thing. Then I found on Sony forum, that you should put your phone in Flight mode. And so I did. Now there is no cracking/poping sounds. It works perfectly. Love the product very good. It is great microphone, but of course it is RODE. I hope i helped to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent pocket Microphone Works like a CHARM! Excellent for Facebook live or just recording with your phone Android or otherwise. Interference if you're trying to live broadcast while inside an airplane, but fine anywhere else. I use it with my android phone and my wifes iphone. Always keep it around, handy when doing a home movie and want to focus on the sounds of my loved ones rather than the ambient noises. Does not cancel everything out, so it makes for GREAT videos with just enough background. Not sounding like it was recorded in a booth or bubble. Will NOT work with a GoPro and Adadpter, you need a TRS Mic for that and this one is TRRS. You CAN always get a TRS to TRRS adapter, but it's just easier to get Rode VideoMic Micro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Put your phone in airplane mode! I gave this mic a bad review a few days ago becuase there was all kinds of static in videos made with my iphone 6 plus. Got in touch with with Rode directly. They suggested putting the phone in airplane mode. Holy smokes! What a difference. This instruction should be in bold letters on the packaging. The videos sound great now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the mic - on Airplane Mode This microphone has great audio as long as the phone is in airplane mode. If it is not, any communication over the cellular antennas causes the ticking and distortion other reviewers have mentioned. When in airplane mode though, the audio is clean. I prefer to shoot video in airplane mode anyway so my recordings are not bothered by text messages or phone calls. So, this is no big deal for me. I love the mic and the build quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Need a lightning/USB-C model So easy to use, just clip it on and drastically improve your audio. Not a fault of this product, but most phones are doing away with the 3.5mm jack. Would love a lightning and USB-C model. I've used this on iPhones and Android. iPhone worked with standard camera app. My Pixel XL and Motorola Play did not work in the default app. I needed to install Cinema FV-5 to film with it. Check to make sure that your phone has a 3.5mm jack on the OPPOSITE end of the camera lens or else the fuzzy windbreak will be in your shot.
