Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Old-School Cable Release Bought this to replace a similar unit I had once back when the Earth was still cooling. What I received is very close - but is not as pictured. The screw lock is not at a 90 angle to the finger tabs as shown; it's an in-line collar that tightens down to grab the cable. it takes a bit of practice at first to use it - but there is an advantage that it can be both set and released with only one hand. How it behaves after some time may become problematic if not kept squeaky clean though. Also, the finger tabs in the picture appear to be metal, but in fact are plastic. Still, they are strong and will not break from normal use. It says the covering is vinyl - but you should think more along the lines of a bicycle brake cable since there is something internally to prevent collapse onto the cable. Perfect for my needs. At these bargain prices, I also got the 12 version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Custom use of shutter release cables I used the shutter release cables to remotely operate the up/down button on a recliner chair as the use could not use his right arm to reach the button which was on the right side of the chair but could use the left arm. Had to build a rig to hold the plunger end of the release devices over the toggle type button. Worked like a charm.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from did not fit my xe-1 Fuji The product obviously was high quality but did not fit right on my Fuji. It would not screw on to my shutter release properly. The self timer on the camera is more than adequate for my needs. B&H as usual was excellent and I will always remain a loyal customer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works but... This cable release works ok, but the use of the lock is a bit tricky. Some times it gets locked without notice. It doesn't have the screw lock as the one shown in the picture. Check mine!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still need to learn how to use it This cable is lightweight, easy to store because of its flexibility. Yet, the screw lock system is not the most easy to manage. Still need to practice more on how to use effectively.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product Cable release works great, albeit the lock can occasionally get stuck, preventing the plunger from getting pushed back out. Very helpful for minimizing camera movement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid performer Works as it should. Using it for my old Super 8 cameras. I like that it has a shutter lock that you can just press and it releases it. Very nice.
