The Mitakon Zhongyi Creator 35mm f/2 Lens is a classic wide-angle prime characterized by its bright f/2 maximum aperture, manual focus operation, and all-metal lens barrel construction. Designed for full-frame and APS-C-format Sony A mount cameras, this lens features a seven elements in five groups construction that helps to minimize distortions and maintain sharpness throughout the aperture range. The f/2 maximum aperture also pairs with the rounded nine-blade diaphragm to produce smooth bokeh when using shallow depth of field techniques.

Prime wide-angle lens designed for use with full-frame Sony A mount SLRs, this lens can also be used with APS-C-format DSLRs where it will provide a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.
Manual focus design is complemented by both depth of field and distance scales for utilizing pre-focus and zone focusing techniques.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm helps to produce a smooth out-of-focus quality when working with selective focus techniques.

A decent enough lense but showing weakness that isn't woprth the low cost and should be avoided.

We purchased a large quantity of these lenses for our student cameras. they are used for technical teaching for our introductory film course. After less than two years of use we now have three of the lenses with bad apertures. Wasn't sure what the issue was (misshapen aperture opening, loose aperture blades...Today while inspecting one of the lenses I saw small brass pins popping out of the ends of the blades when the aperture was being opened fully. Seems to be a combination of overly flexible (coulld they be plastic?) aperture blades and poorly? installed pins. Couldn't figure out what was causing the problem with misshappen apertures...now we have a pretty good idea. We have a lot of other lenses and no such issue on any of them. Will be checking other Mitakon lenses for same issue.

I purchased this lens because of the positive reviews and it was the cheapest 35mm for Canon EF mount. The first copy from B&H was defective big time. Although there was a Quality Assurance certificate included in the package the aperture blades were assembled the other way around. So the largest aperture opening is f/22 and vise versa. I had to exchange this for another copy and in which anything above F/8 becomes quite noisey and smudgy on the viewfinder that focus becomes impossible. Further the camera looses contact beyond this point. Meaning no focus confirmation beyond f/8. There is no quality control for this lens whatsoever. Period. I had returned both back to B&H and ordered a Rockinon 35mm f/1.4. It could be a misalignment, poor quality control and all that but I don't recommend this product to anyone.

I understand that this lens does not have electronic contacts. Does it include the mechanical means for the body to sense the aperture that has been set on the lens? I'm a beginner and still lean on aperture priority on my Pentax MV and ZX-M.

It should function on aperture priority auto on your MV and ZX-M when you set the aperture from the lens.

Does this lens integrate with the Pentax KA mount system for metering? Specifically, does it function or have the functional A on the aperture ring?

The Mitakon Zhongyi Creator 35mm f/2 Lens for Pentax K Mount is a fully manual lens. It does not have electronic contacts for communication with the camera and does not have an A mode built onto the aperture ring. The lens will fit the Pentax K-mount, but you will have to focus the lens manually and set the aperture using the aperture ring on the lens, not the command dial on the camera body.

It has a slight click at each full stop. There is no click at 1/2 or 1/3 stops. You can adjust the Aperture between stops. But you will not know exactly what the lens is set to.
