Shure BLX24/SM58 Overview

The Shure BLX24/SM58 brings performers and presenters a cost-effective wireless handheld microphone system with quality sound, simple setup, intuitive operation, and dependable performance right out of the box. It includes the compact and lightweight BLX4 single-channel tabletop receiver with internal antennas, ideal for portable use.

The BLX24/SM58 also includes a handheld transmitter equipped with the legendary SM58 cardioid dynamic capsule, an industry standard for vocalists and announcers. The receiver features one-touch QuickScan frequency selection to quickly search 123 available frequencies and locate a clean RF channel in case of interference. The system provides up to 14 hours of continuous use with two AA batteries, at a range up to 300'. Up to 12 mic channels can operate simultaneously in each frequency band.

This streamlined system is well suited for live performances and events in small venues, wedding halls, and houses of worship, as well as conference, educational, and corporate facilities.

Classic SM58 Mic Capsule Optimized for Vocals and Speech
The integrated SM58 dynamic capsule features a cardioid polar pattern that minimizes background noise and feedback. Its brightened midrange and bass roll-off deliver that sought-after warm and clear vocal reproduction. The built-in spherical wind and pop filter reduces plosives for clean and intelligible speech.
Lightweight Handheld Transmitter
The durable BLX2 handheld transmitter offers a lightweight, ergonomic design and is comfortable to hold. Group and channel selection buttons allow for quick and simple frequency matching with the receiver. Other features include an easily accessible on/off button, adjustable gain control, and a black identification cap. The WA621 Color ID Caps kit containing assorted colored caps is available as an optional accessory.
Easy-to-Use Tabletop Receiver for Quality Audio
The BLX4 receiver employs a microprocessor-controlled internal antenna diversity feature to improve the quality and reliability of your wireless audio. An LED display shows group and channel settings, while two LED lights indicate when the system is ready for use and the strength of the incoming audio signal. The unit offers 1/4" and XLR outputs for connectivity to PA systems and mixing boards.

Is this just plug and play what else I need to play my instruments do I have to connected to my computer and download software?

The Shure BLX24/SM58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System is not an audio interface and cannot connect directly to a computer. To connect this or any other microphone/wireless system to your computer, you would need an audio interface such as BH #FOSCARSOLO3G. The BLX24/SM58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System also does not have any support for connecting instruments. It comes with a handheld transmitter, although beltpack transmitters with an instrument input are available separately.

It does not have a formal mute button. You can turn it off and then on again and it will stay on the same channel.

whats the difference between this 2 kits Shure BLX24 Handheld Wireless System With Beta 58A Mic (J10: 584 - 608 MHz) and Shure BLX24/SM58 Vocal Wireless System Basic Kit (H9: 512 to 542 MHz)???

The Beta 58a is a different microphone. It is also in a different frequency block. The kit with the SM58 also comes with a bag, cable. and windscreen.

We currently have several BLX24 systems on H8 frequency and would like to add 2 more matching systems. Will systems on H9 frequency work with H8 systems? Frequencies overlap (H8: 518 - 542 MHz v. H9: 512 - 542 MHz).

Yes, should all be able to be used together so long as the number of systems you are running within the same range does not exceed the amount of bandwidth available. For optimal coordination, it is preferred to utilize best practice by running a frequency scan on each system individually in sequence so that they can each find an optimal available frequency.As the question may also pertain to using the transmitters of one band with the other, to clarify, this can be done. However it is important to note the difference in frequency ranges of each band. For example, if an H9 receiver lands on a lower frequency group not covered by H8 transmitters, you cannot sync the transmitter to that unit (it cannot be set to the matching group). It's best to run a channel scan within a group you know both bands have in common to avoid this outcome and but still utilize the benefit of the system's frequency scan.
