Celestron EQ Wedge for NexStar 6/8SE Evolution Telescopes
Key Features
  • 36 lb Payload Capacity
  • Use for Equatorial Tracking
  • For Long Exposure Astrophotography
  • Integrated Bubble Level
Designed for their NexStar 6/8SE and Evolution single-fork alt-az mounts, Celestron's EQ Wedge enables beginner and intermediate users to do long-exposure astrophotography and autoguiding by tilting the telescope's azimuth into an equatorial platform allowing it to track an arc around the polar axis. Alt-Az tracking keeps objects centered, but a long enough exposure will reveal they rotate in the field of view. Adding a wedge allows the mount to track equatorially, eliminating field rotation. It features simple installation procedures, tool-less operation, a latitude adjustment screw with easy-to-read scale, and an integrated bubble level.

What is the deference between the models # 93665 and #93664?

Each edge is slightly different depending on the model of your telescope. This wedge is NexStar 6/8SE and Evolution single-fork alt-az mounts. The Pro wedge is for larger telescopes up to 11 inches.

Does this work for the 130SLT? If not where can I get a wedge for the 130SLT?
Asked by: Connor
You would need a different mount to use a wedge with this telescope. An Equatorial Mount would be the best choice, where no wedge would be needed.

Can I leave the wedge after installation and work also in AltAz mode? Is there any reason to remove it if going AltAz some of the times?
Asked by: Ehud
No, the wedge must be removed if you plan to use the telescope in Alt/Azm mode. The telescope will not function properly in Alt/Azm if the wedge is left on.

question

will this work on a nexstar 5se ? i live in a low altitude my wedge only goes as far as 20deg. i'm at 10.55deg
Asked by: Angelo K.
Yes it will, the mount bolt spacing is identical among the 4SE/5SE and 6SE/8SE. The tripod should support this wedge just fine. Just be sure to keep its built-in wedge perfectly flat.

question

Does this work with the 9.25?
Asked by: Anonymous
The sixth photo in the above series shows a 9.25 on its heavy tripod (I own one so I recognise it as such). Celestron state in the specification section of their web page for this product, and I would have linked to it, but I am not allowed to: Mount Compatibility NexStar Evolution 6/8/9.25
