FotodioX MACRO-BELLOWS-EOS overview

  • 1Description

Well-suited for extreme close-up shooting, this Macro Bellows from Fotodiox is designed for Canon EF-mount cameras and lenses. This bellows has an adjustable 1.6-5.9" extension range, and is used to increase a lens's maximum magnification up to 8:1 for macro applications. A rack and pinion gear is used for smoothly adjusting the extension amount and a printed scale in millimeters helps to ensure consistent, repeatable settings. An integrated thumbscrew also lets you lock your position in place and suits working with heavier equipment or when shooting at a steep angle. The bellows frame is constructed from anodized aluminum-alloy and there is also an integrated 1/4"-20 socket for attaching directly to a tripod or quick release plate.

    FotodioX MACRO-BELLOWS-EOS reviews

Macro Bellows for Canon EF is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Will suffice One can't expect too much at this price point, and for my infrequent use it should work. The standards are plastic and the one with the tripod mount flexes quite a bit depending on the mounting surface it is attached to. My biggest concern is the rack and pinion focus gear on the one rail. The mechanics are very sloppy and it is tedious to operate. It may be I can shim or otherwise adjust something but I really shouldn't have to re-engineer it! (I would recommend it to a friend only with some serious caveats.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sensible Accessory I am coming from large format film (4x5) and so a bellows is a sensible accessory for me. I was unsure of what to expect for quality, given the price, but I am impressed. I wish I could get tilts and shifts for this price, but the extensions are worth it to me. I already had a slider for stereophotography, which makes fine adjustments easier. I am glad that I was to get this versatile accessory for my first DSLR.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from poor quality While functional, this bellows is quite fragile, constructed of mostly plastic and therefor not rigid. It will not lock into position so maintaining critical focus is hit or miss. It is difficult to mount a quick release plate on this bellows.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't Like It! The worse part about this bellows is the uncorrectable distortion you get in your images when the unit is fully extended. If you are planning to shoot subjects to be used with a focus stacking software- forget it. It is wobbly and clunky on the rails- very unstable. This bellows is more suitable for use on a table than a tripod which will take some drilling and extra hardware on your part, and even then you won't like it. If you are tempted to buy this bellows....DON'T.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good purchase For the price, this product did just what I needed it to do. With a little ingenuity you can lock it into place to hold focus.
