The Movcam Twist Handle is a quick-release top handle designed for use with Movcam's GH5 and a7 II-series camera cages, attaching to the cage via an included short NATO rail. Once attached, the handle can be rotated by loosening a top thumbscrew, letting you set the desired grip angle/position. Tightening the screw locks the handle in place. For accessory mounting, the handle features 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded mounting holes, a single 15mm rod port, and two shoe mounts (one in front and one in back of handle).

fits the hand well and is comfortable to hold for long periods. things mount well into the cold shoe mounts and being able to turn the handle is a nice feature as well

** I am using this product on the Movcam cage for the first A7s. I love my Movcam cage, the only gripe I had with it was the top handle having to be screwed in, making it a very awkward fit in a camera bag so it would always have to be removed. There are also times when I'm shooting stills and don't want the top handle, but keep about 1/2 the cage on at all times (remove the right half with the shutter release, etc.). The new top handle feels very sturdy and significantly more comfortable with the wood finish (although I do wish it were black ;) ). I love that there's still mounting points. To get it on and off is extremely simple and fast. The 15mm hole I feel is easier to put rods through.

Maybe a silly question, but how do you 'twist' the handle? I've tried removing the big screw in the middle, but that doesn't work.
The handle doesn't exactly twist. It's fixed. You just grab it and hold the camera with it.

Does this handle fit the cage for the Sony A7S and enable you to move it out the way so that the xlr unit can be mounted also. Unlike the old movcam cage handle.
The twist handle is adjustable both by sliding the handle on the rail included or can be rotated which should allow room for accessories.

What's the length of the nato rail?
The NATO rail is 2 5/8 long with the mounting slot/hole at 1 5/8 in length. The screws are 1/4 20 - which when, not being used, live (and can be seen) in the handle. It's a quality piece of kit.
