Incorporated in this ASUS monitor are a variety of features designed to further enhance one's experience. You can take advantage of four color temperature modes, three GamePlus modes, and six GameVisual modes. Each of these modes makes it easy to adjust the display to accommodate the content being viewed. Additionally, the low blue light and flicker-free features help to ease the strain placed on the eyes when viewing the display for extended periods of time.

Setup and configuration of the PG279Q monitor is simple as it comes equipped with both HDMI and DisplayPort connectors. Earphones can be plugged into the 3.5 mm headphone jack and USB compatible peripherals such as a mouse and keyboard can be plugged into the USB 3.0 ports. Once configured, the IPS panel offers 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angels making it easy to see the screen from nearly any angle.

IPS Technology
The ROG Swift PG279Q gaming monitor gives you enhanced images with improved colors thanks to 100% sRGB color gamut and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Wide 178-degree viewing angles ensure minimal distortion and color shift even when you're viewing from extreme positions.
Enhanced Refresh Rate
The ROG Swift PG279Q gaming monitor's 165 Hz refresh rate helps to eliminate lag and motion blur to give you the upper hand in first person shooters, racers, real-time strategy, and sports titles.

You can even select your preferred refresh rate with a turbo key to toggle refresh rates on the fly without needing to access the graphics driver control panel. Select from 60, 120, or 165 Hz refresh rates while in the middle of a game to match the different frame rates of different games to maintain smoothness. Lessen the load on your GPU and CPU by setting a cap on the Hz for different games.
NVIDIA G-Sync Technology
The ROG Swift PG279Q incorporates NVIDIA G-SYNC display technology to deliver a smooth and fast gaming experience. G-SYNC synchronizes the monitor's refresh rate to the GPU in your GeForce GTX-powered PC, eliminating screen tearing and minimizing display stutter and input lag. This lets you enjoy seamlessly-smooth and lag-free gameplay when playing the latest fast-paced first-person shooters, sports, and action-adventure titles.
ASUS GamePlus Technology
The ROG Swift PG279Q gaming monitor features the ASUS-exclusive GamePlus hotkey for in-game enhancements so you get more out of your game. The crosshair overlay gives you four different crosshair options to suit the game you're playing. There's also an onscreen timer you can position on the left of the display so you can keep track of the elapsed gaming time; while the FPS (frames per second) counter lets you know how smooth the game is running.
GameVisual Technology
ASUS GameVisual Technology has six pre-set display modes to optimize visuals for different types of content. This unique feature can be easily accessed through a hotkey or the on-screen display (OSD) settings menu.
Narrow Bezel
The slim profile and super-narrow 6mm bezel makes it ideal for multi-display setups so your eyes move swiftly from one monitor to another. It can also be VESA wall-mounted.
Versatile Connectivity
The ROG Swift PG279Q has a wide selection of connectivity options for WQHD input including DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI ports. It also has two USB 3.0 ports to quick-charge your mobile devices while gaming.
Low Blue Light Technology
The ROG Swift PG279Q also comes with the ASUS Ultra Low Blue Light filters to protect you from harmful blue light. You can easily access and select four different filter settings onscreen through a handy five-way joystick that makes it easy to jump through the on-screen display (OSD) menus to fulfill your different scenarios.
Flicker-Free Technology
Flicker-Free technology reduces flicker to give you a comfortable gaming experience. This minimizes instances of eyestrain and other damaging effects when you're embroiled in long, drawn-out gaming sessions.
Ergonomics
The ROG Swift PG279Q is specially designed for marathon gaming sessions. It has an ergonomically-designed stand with tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustment so you can always find that ideal viewing position whether you're on the couch or sitting on your bed.

From what I've found, they're pretty much the same. Not sure why they have different names but specs wise they are identical.

question

Is the bezel the same size for the ASUS PG279Q as the bezel for the ASUS PB277Q? I want to do a 4 monitor setup. Also, will they be able to align evenly when I put them on a quad monitor mount in which 1 on top, 1 middle, and 1 on each side, as in is the spot for the mount in the same spot on both the ASUS PB277Q and the ASUS PG279Q?
Asked by: Justin D.
I'm not sure on the thickness of the bezel, it was pretty thin. As far as the adjustment of height, and swivel they are remarkable stands. Very easy adjustments. If you are doing more than one monitor, you won't be able to take advantage of 165hz, even 100hz(That's a lot of pixels for any set up) I went with the rog swift pg348. I had them side by side.. The wide screen is a no brainer unless you are playing competitive high twitch games (first person shooters). If you are going to dump that much cash on 4 monitors, I'd go with 2 or 3 rog swift PG348. They would mesh together well, the curvature of the monitor makes the screen the same distance from your point of view all the time.I was going to keep both monitors, I returned the pg279q. The pg348 has so much screen it was overwhelming. (I previously played on a 42 tv) the 3440x1440 resolution is supported by a lot more games than i had expected, also so much room for multitasking!

question

what bit is the panel, as in, is it 8-bit or whatever?
Asked by: Justin D.
Ok as far as I can see is the specs say (real 8 bit) 16.7M colors! I hope this helps. If it helps after setup and running Doom with a GTX-1080 founders edition! I seen things in the game that at 1080p weren't there!! Awesome monitor!
