Does the case hold the H4N model? Can you record with the recorder in the case partially concealed?
The PCH-5 is meant to hold the H5, but it can hold the H4n. We would recommend looking to the PCH-4n. https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/accessories/cases-and-bags/PCH-4n/
Also, you can still record with the H4n while it is in the case.

Does the case accommodate the use of a dead cat on the microphone module?
Not 100%. I have the rycote and it works w/ the x/y but the unit does not allow the msh-6 module enough room to grip. Another diy job or rubber band solution here.
