The Nikon SB5000 is larger than the SB500, so the SB500 will fit in the Nikon SS-5000 Soft Case for SB-5000 AF Speedlight. However, the flash will move around, and there will be a lot of extra unused space since the case is larger than the flash.

I have a Nissan Di700A that came with a really cheap pouch that barely fits. I need a pouch like my others that also has a pocket for the cold shoe mount accessory. Would this pouch work? I wish I could find one like my other two. There is no band name on those pouches.
The size of the Nikon SB5000 flash, which this case is designed for, would be too small. As an alternative, you might want to look at the Zing medium neoprene pouch B&H# ZIPMP. They are also available with different interior colors.
