XPRO 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head Kit with 200PL-14 and 200PL Quick Release Plates Overview

This Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head Kit from B&H includes one XPRO 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head with an integrated RC2 quick release cam lock, a 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate, and a 200PL Quick Release Plate.

Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate

This XPRO 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head from Manfrotto has a load capacity of 17.6 lb and can be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. It includes an integrated RC2 quick release cam lock and a 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate. RC2 compatible quick release plates such as the 200PL-14 can be removed from the head by pulling the cam lock's spring-loaded lever, which also allows the plate to be quickly reattached. The cam lock also features a safety catch to prevent the 200PL-14, or another compatible quick release plate from accidentally disconnecting.

Cameras, sport optics, or camcorders that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate before securing it to the pan-and-tilt head. The head can be rotated 360°, tilted 90° forwards or 30° backwards, as well as 90° sideways for portrait orientation. Each of these three movements function independently of each other, have dedicated control handles, and can be locked into place. In addition to integrating the ability to individually lock the movements by twisting each corresponding handle's rubberized grip, the telescoping control handles for both tilt functions can also be retracted while the head is not in use for more convenient storage or transport.

To promote fast and repeatable device positioning, this XPRO 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head also includes a dedicated angle scale for rotational movements that is designed for easy visibility, as well as dedicated control knobs set under the telescoping control handles that can each be rotated to apply tension control to either the backwards and forwards, or sideways tilt movements at any time.

Seems Well Built and Sturdy

When the pan/tilt head on my SLIK tripod gave up the ghost (plastic cracked badly) I looked for a head to replace it. This one looked good and I just happened to have a 3/8 adapter to put it on the SLIK legs. So far so good!

Easy and versatile

I produce both video and photography. I bought this head for photography mainly, but used it on a shoot recently with a teleprompter and it worked like a champ. Not the greatest for panning and tilting (esp. tilting) but still works in a pinch.

Good for 4x5

I bought this head for a 4x5 monorail system. I find it much preferable to trying to balance 12 pounds of camera on a ball head. Very stable in any position, but tends to sag slightly at odd angles. An annoyance, but a minor one. If you have trouble tightening the knobs it is because your hands are weak. I have arthritis and its not remotely an issue; take care of your hands.

Excellent 3 way pan and tilt head by Manfrotto

Never had a 3-way Pan and Tilt Head, it is easy to use compare to the basic extension stand from old school design. The 3 way pan and tilt makes use of angles and steady the shooting position when use.

Love this tripod head. Very sturdy, doesn't shift, and can handle a good amount of weight. The only thing is that it is a bit on the large side, so I needed a bigger tripod bag if I wanted to store it attached to the tripod.

There is not a better tripod head, especially for landscape photography. The ease of use and ability to fine tune the composition is unmatched! I would recommend the tripod head to anyone!

Yes, this will. First, remove the Manfrotto 500 fluid head to reveal the 3/8"-16 screw from the XPRO monopod, then mount the 3-way pan head onto it.

Asked by: Susan
While we not are familiar with the "500 monopod" (did you mean the Manfrotto XPRO monopod with the MA500 fluid head?), this will work with any monopod with a 3/8"-16 mounting thread, of which most tripods are.

I would like to use a pan and tilt head with a spotting scope, so I only need two axes of movement. Can the middle part of this head be removed and replaced with the top part (i.e., remove the part with the lower handle), to make a 2-way head?
Asked by: Robert
No, the pieces are designed to go together the way that they are, I see no possibility of removing the middle piece and reassembling it differently. I think that you need to look for a 2 axis head. There are hundreds of heads out there. This is a nice head and you can independently lock each axis, so it should work for you as-if if you just leave one axis tightened up.

The Matthews M25 tripod uses a 65mm bowl, so this Manfrotto head will not fit.
