Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head

The 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head from Manfrotto is ideal for a VCR camera up to 13.2 lb. It includes a quick release plate. The head mounting thread is 3/8".

Replaces old part number 3130.

Quick Release Plate
Features a quick-release plate that allows you to change cameras or detach the camera with the flip of a lever.
Pan and Tilt
This head pans 360° and can be tilted -60° to +90° and features pan and tilt locks.

Manfrotto 200PL Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw and 3/8" Bushing Adapter

The Manfrotto 200PL Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw and 3/8" Bushing Adapter is the replacement quick release plate for all heads that use the RC2 (3157N) system. The plate comes with a 1/4"-20 camera screw and a 3/8" bushing adapter, and is compatible with 35mm and standard thread-mounted medium format cameras.

Very smooth & multi-directional. Excellent for photos, too. Fast to locate subject. Though Heavy. Enables me to stay with Manfrotto RC2 system for all my equipment.

Use with Kowa 883 spotting scope

I tested several tripod heads for use with a larger size spotting scope for birding. This was one of the better ones but had a few issues. The main issue is that it wasn't balanced very well, couldn't adjust the plate forward or backward like an ARCA plate, and didn't give enough tilt resistance to prevent the scope from flopping when unlocked. The plate was high quality but would have preferred ARCA style. Another issue was the placement and size of the controls. The plate has a very tiny brass release which is hard to press, combined with a very large plastic lever which gets in the way. And the pan lock located in the bottom center was not convenient to reach. I ended up getting the Sirui VA-5. 2nd place was the SmallRig Lightweight Fluid Video head. This one may work better for a lighter video rig or scope, or people who have a lot of manfrotto plates or something.

The Manfrotto 128RC connection to a tripod through a 3/8 connection. You can take this head off and on any tripod with such screw, such as B&H #MAMT290XTA3U.

That will depend on your specific needs and the window you are using. That being said the base diameter for this head is 2.36 inches and the working height is 4.53 inches. It only weighs 35.27 ounces. It may work for your needs depending on those specs.
