    Manfrotto 128RC reviews

128RC QR Micro Fluid Head is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 163.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Can Not Balance a DSLR I purchased this head to shoot video with my Canon T3i DSLR. With either my 18mm-135mm or 10mm-20mm lenses, the camera will flop forward unless the tilt drag is set firmly enough to prevent it, which then prevents smooth motion. I have been getting by with releasing the drag for shooting, and snugging it up again when the camera is idle. Looking to improve this situation, I have ordered the 701HDV to replace it, as the 701HDV has a spring balance system, as well as the ability to adjust the camera mounting position to achieve balance. This may not be an issue with a camcorder, but anyone looking to use a DSLR with this head should consider the above.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Smooth, Simple Fluid Head I recently picked up this Manfrotto 128RC QR head to use as a relatively compact, simple, not too expensive video head. So far I'm very pleased. Both panning and tilting are very smooth and tension is good. It's a very simple head, no tension adjustment or counterbalance. It does have pan and tilt locks and they work well. I don't find myself missing tension adjustment, mainly because the tension out of the box suits me just fine. I do find myself wishing it had a counter balance system. But I think you'd be hard pressed to get a similar quality, size and capacity head with that feature for similar money. Overall I'm very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great tripod head for large spotting scopes I purchase this Manfrotto 128 RC tripod head for my Swarovski spotting scope. The spotting scope is large with a 80 mm objective lense. The head I had been using was a great, high quality head. It was just a little too jerky when panning, and locking onto specific objects. The Manfrotto 128 RC is smooth as silk while panning. It stops and locks precisely where I want it to. It’s exactly what I have been looking for. The only negative thing I can say is that it is a little heavier than I’d like. It is still lighter than my old one though, and it functions perfectly. B&H Photo had a good price. The ordering and shipping was quick, easy and efficient. I am very happy with the product and service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Budget Fluid Head for Video I am using this head for my Panasonic HDC-TM700. I think that it is a good size head for this camcorder. However, it is a little back-heavy with this light-weight camcorder, as it tends to slowly tilt back if the tilt motion is not locked. I am glad that I got the QR version (quick release plate). This head (as any fluid head should) definitely improves camera panning. My only complaint is that the Pan and Tilt motions are noticeably different--the tilt has more resistance than the pan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product! Hello, My name is George and U am a videographer from Detroit Michigan (Go Lions) I use this product to shoot movies and let me tell you, it works great! I was looking for a relatively inexpensive product, a well made product, and a professional looking product, and let me tell you, this 128RC QR Micro Fluid head was the best investment I have ever made. It looks profession and it is much larger than the picture makes it look. There is noting major that I would change about it except it would be nice if there would be one of those bubble dot things to make sure the tripod is upright, but other than that, it is worth your investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glides through production! The students in my high school Video Production course race to class during production sessions to be sure to grab their fave equipment... our Manfrotto tripods with the Fluid Heads are definitely their choice. We have been purchasing this product (and earlier versions) for 5 years, and have nothing but rave reviews! Although a few thefts have meant we've needed to purchase additional units, this tripod configuration has lasted through use by at least 300 students who don't usually treat equipment wit TLC.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Fluid head for the price I use the 128RC QR Micro fluid head for mainly videography work but also for still photography on occasion. The good thing about this tripod head is that it's very smooth on both the pan axis and tilt axis. Adjusting the pan and tilt drag speed is just a matter of tightening or loosening the appropriate knobs, which is simple enough. The quick release plate works exactly how it should, however removing the little anti-movement pin that is in the it can be a bit of a pain at times. Attaching the tripod head to a tripod may take a little while, however once it's set in and secure, it sits very firmly. Overall it's a good fluid head for medium format cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice for small camcorders! I use this fluid head with a Panasonic TM-700 camcorder. I could probably get away with using a slightly smaller/cheaper fluid head given the size of my camera, but with the 128RC I get the confidence of knowing that my camera will be held stable in any circumstances and will produce the smoothest movements possible. The quick release plate is rock solid and very intuitive to operate. I could not be more pleased with this head, and would definitely recommend it to anyone with a small to medium camcorder looking for high quality movements.
