Leica Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH Lens (Black)

BH #LE352SMB • MFR #11673
Leica Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH Lens (Black)
Key Features
  • Leica M Mount Lens
  • Aperture Range: f/2 to f/16
  • One Aspherical Element
  • Manual Focus Design
Pairing a favored focal length with a bright maximum aperture for flexible control, the black Leica Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH Lens is a standard wide-angle prime that is prized for image quality and refined optical design. Comprised of seven elements in five groups, and incorporating a single aspherical element, this lens eliminates nearly all distortions and spherical aberrations throughout the focusing range. This design also contributes to a high degree of sharpness, contrast, and clarity, and the f/2 maximum aperture enables working in difficult lighting conditions with ease. Additionally, an 11-blade aperture contributes to smooth out-of-focus rendering when working with selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques. Despite its wide-angle focal length and fast maximum aperture, this manual focus lens still remains relatively compact to benefit its use as an everyday, go-to lens for M shooters.

question

Will there be any degradation in image quality if you use a metabone Leica M to E mount adapter and shoot on a Sony A72 body?
Asked by: Brian
The Image quality from Sony would not be he same as from Leica. The adapter is not the cause, it's the camera.

Does this lens block the viewfinder at all? Does ...

Does this lens block the viewfinder at all? Does it cover the view inside the framelines? Can you see the lens outside the framelines with the hood on?
Asked by: Karim
It does not block the viewfinder at all without the hood on it. With the hood mounted, you may see a minimal amount of the lens hood in the framelines and the viewfinder, if any at all. The lens is visible in the viewfinder with the hood on. With the hood removed, much less.

What is the difference between the one made in Portugal and the one in Germany
Asked by: Anonymous
There is no difference in the materials or in the way these two lenses are manufactured. The only difference is where they are manufactured and assembled. Leica decided to start production on certain lenses (this one included) in Portugal and to pass the savings from not paying the higher tariffs into the United States of their German counterparts on to the consumer. The quality is exactly the same for both as is the warranty etc. Only difference is one is stamped "Made in Portugal" and the other "Made in Germany".

IS THIS LENS FITS ON THE LEICA M3 ?
Asked by: Jose
It will mount on the M3, but because of the magnification of the viewfinder, you will not see adequate bright lines. The M3 is designed to support 50mm, 90mm, and 135mm.
