Canon EW-73D reviews

EW-73D Lens Hood is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK, but opverpriced Seems well made, has a nice click-stop attachment, but $35 for something that should cost less than a dollar to make and that everybody else includes with their lenses? Canon, this come across as very chintzy. I'll pay $605 if I have to, instead of $600, to get an included lens hood. Are profit margins really so tight that you can't include the hood?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needed accessory Why Canon does not include a lens hood for their new (expensive) EFS 18 - 135 lens on the 80D is beyond me. It's a good thing to have and fits perfectly. I like the click lock that holds it in place. A definite must have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canon EW-73D lens hood for EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM This item showed up super quick!! Also, the lens hood's quality is above and beyond what I was expecting. There were other off brand ones that may have been able to save a couple bucks, but going with authentic Canon parts, they just work and feel so much better. The construction and use of this lens hood is incredible. It turns and attaches very smoothly. It also clicks into place when the lens hood is attached. There is no wiggle room, and it is the PERFECT look for my Canon 80D!!! So happy with this. In the future I will only be buying Canon authentic parts. Its worth the small extra cost to go authentic

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The genuine article, purpose-built lens hood This lens hood is purpose-built for the zoom lens on my Canon EOS 80D. I checked reviews on the generic products and decided to spend the money on the OEM lens hood. While pricey, I do not expect to have to replace the hood as I might with the thinner, generic brands. This Canon hood is easy to mount; just align the red dot with the dot on the camera lens and give it a quarter turn. Press the quick release button to remove it. I reverse the lens hood when storing the camera in its holster bag. This is one of the first accessories I purchased for my new DSLR. I consider it required equipment, both to prevent lens flare and to protect the lens during photo shoots and while stored.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money I know that Canon lens hoods seem expensive compared to other option. However, I always purchase them because they just seem to fit better. This lens hood recently saved my new lens during a mishap with my camera that included a 3 foot fall to a concrete driveway. The hood remained attached and received some nicks and scrapes but the lens came trough unscathed. That is exactly what I want in a lens hood. I will gladly pay a few extra dollars for that level of protection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Hood Yes, it's overpriced. No, it doesn't have felt on the inside of the hood like some other Canon hoods. Yes, you can probably find a Chinese-made knock-off. But you really can't go wrong with this Canon-branded version. It's well made, and I like that it has a locking mechanism that you have to push to release the hood from the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Yes, it is a bit expensive but Canon finally got the lens hood part right. Yes, I did start out with a cheap knockoff. Certainly they will work. This hood is simply a pleasure to work with. It goes on effortlessly in both positions and locks in place. Just hoping I do not lose it!
