Sigma MC-11 overview

  • 1Description

The MC-11 Mount Converter enables the use of Sigma EF-mount lenses on Sony E-mount mirrorless camera bodies, and maintains full lens performance, including autofocus and auto-exposure, as well as in-camera correction technologies. An integrated LED can be used to display select Sigma lens compatibility with the adapted camera body, and the adapter also supports in-camera image stabilization. In order to maintain a high degree of image quality, the interior of the adapter is flocked to reduce reflections, and it also retains full EXIF data to benefit post-production and file management.

Per Sigma, this Mount Converter/Lens Adapter is compatible with a select number of Sigma's own EF-mount lenses, and may or may not be suitable for use with other manufacturers' EF-mount lenses.

    Sigma MC-11 reviews

MC-11 Mount Converter/Lens Adapter (Sigma EF-Mount Lenses to Sony E) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 139.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Medium Price Canon EF to Sony E adapter that actually works When this adapter showed up I did a very unscientific test. I got out all my old CanonEF mount film lenses that did not work with either the Photodiox smart or Metabones IV adapters plus my Sony A7R2 body. All of them worked acceptably with this Sigma adapter except the Canon 300mm f4(that lens has iffy auto focus but is works). I then tried tried some latest generation canon Lenses such as the 400mm f2.8 v2 and 16 to 35mm f4 all worked better and focused faster than the older photodiox or metabones adapters. One caveat that i came up with, performance drops as the Sony battery drops below 50% capacity and the Canon focus motors and is eat power so carry extra batteries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best looking adapter for Sony Also Performs I updated all lenses and adapters before use! Got this to mount the new Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens to my A7s. Performs Flawlessly, AF any mode and fast for me. IS Superb. Update lenses with the USB Dock software at home. Only problem is I got the Sigma teleconverter 1.4x with the lens and was told by Sigma it would not work with the adapter BUT the TC worked fine JUST no Green LED, I guess they need to add it to their lens list or they made the adapter but never tested it on the Sony A7 series cameras but whatever they did do so far is great indeed and with no camera lock up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with Canon L-Lenses too! This adapter preforms just as expected with designated Sigma lenses (as expected), but what really sells me on it is the fact that it works with my Canon L-Glass too! I was previously using the fotodiox AF adapter and can say it certainly works at least that well with Canon lenses. Unfortunately no eye autofocus on the Canon lenses, but none of the annoying flare/lightleaks that the Fotodiox employed. It seems to work a little better on wide angle Canon lenses, much like the other adapters, but also much better on the 70-200 2.8 IS L ii than metabones or fotodiox. For the price this lens is a must; for close to half the price of the metabones and significantly better features this lens is a no brainer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great buy for photoenthusiasts. Recently bought the Sigma 35 F 1.4 Art lens with the MC-11 adaptor for use on my Sony A7RII. Even with the converter, my overall price was $400-$500 less than the Zeiss 35 F1.4 FE lens. I upgraded the converter software without a glitch in under 5 minutes (recent update). No problems with any of the focusing modes so far to include eye-AF. As a photo enthusiast, sometimes hard for me to justify expensive lens purchases. Using the recommended Sigma Art lenses results in cost effective strategies to obtain excellent glass for the Sony FE cameras. Would love to see a 28-70 2.8 Sigma Art lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Native E mount performance and features I finally received Sigma MC-11 adapter from B&H that I ordered in March. I pared it with Sigma 35mm f/1.4 with EF mount on my a7r body. The autofocus is super fast, as fast as my other Sony Zeiss glasses and Zeiss Batis lens. It also support many focus features that previously only available to native E mount lenses. This combination is as good as or better than Sony Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 in terms of sharpness and price. I also compare MC-11 against my Metabones IV. There is no comparison with Sigma lens. However for other lenses such my vast collection of Canon L glasses, MC-11 perform similar to Metabones IV, focus slow and hunting. As a conclusion if you have Sigma glasses especially Art series, this adapter will give you native E mount performance. It works with other lenses but no better than Metabones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from indispensible I use it to mount my Sigma Art lenses as well as my Canon EF on a Sony a7R2. It works wonder (all my Canon work flawlessly) but there are a few Sony features not available while using non-native lenses on the camera. I mount these Canon lenses successfully: EF 85 1.2L2, EF 50 1.4, EF 100 2.0, EF 24 2.8, EF 20 2.8. Rarely, but it happens, the AF isn't gripping on anything (after switching lenses) but either turning camera on/off, or unmounting/remounting the lens fixes it immediately. SIgma does not recommend mounting Canon lenses with it but you can ignore this. I am very happy with it, it looks sleek too, and has a USB plug to update firmware (when using Sigma lenses.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well with my a6300 and Sigma 18-35 f1.8 I'm quite satisfied with the performance of this MC-11 with my Sony a6300 and Sigma 18-35 f1.8 lens. The a6300's autofocus is fast and precise, just as if it were using a native Sony lens. The photos and videos come out stunningly beautiful. I do not shoot sports, however, so I cannot comment on its performance in those settings. However for recording speeches, cooking demonstrations, talking head videos, etc it does the job very well. Make sure to update the firmware of your lens and/or the MC-11 before using. All in all, quite satisfied, especially for the price.
