Works great but isn't great

The variable ND filter inside of the adapter is way too thick. My images hardly ever come out sharp regardless of what my focus peaking is telling me. Now, that being said, I have taken some photos that blew my mind at the way the lens and the adapter rendered certain portraits in such a good way but that was only 4 out of 100 pictures.
