Venus Optics Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens for Sony A
Key Features
  • Sony A-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • Aperture Range: f/2 (T3.2) to f/22
  • One Apodization Element for Smooth Bokeh
  • Three Low Dispersion Elements
Designed to provide a wealth of control over out-of-focus quality and to enhance bokeh, the Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens from Venus Optics is a short telephoto prime designed for full-frame Sony A-mount cameras. The unique optical design incorporates an apodization (APD) element, as well as two separate diaphragms—8- and 14-blade—to provide separate adjustment over the bokeh as well as the exposure and depth of field. This APD element functions as a radially graduated neutral density filter, and as such limits the light transmission to a T-stop value of 3.2, while permitting the depth of field and selective focus qualities of a true f/2 design.

if this is an A mount will this work with an A200?
Asked by: Anthony
Yes, the Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus lens will work with the Sony A200. However, due to the A200's older autofocusing system, AF performance will likely be limited by the camera.

I want to know if this lens has an AE chip built-into in order to get focus confirmation as well as the use of Auto/P/A/S/M shooting modes due to the transmission of lens data to the camera? Thanks
Asked by: SISMONDA F.
No - It can only be used in full manual mode. The camera has to be set to release without lens and manual control - Allan

The Venus Optics Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens for Pentax K will work on your K1. You would just set the focal length so the body knows how much stabilization it needs to apply to the sensor.

Will the T stop affect my depth of field? If I set f2.0 but T8.0, will I still get the depth of field of f2.0?
Asked by: Aman
As you narrow down the T stop on the Venus Optics Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens for Canon EF the depth of field will also change. You cannot maintain the same depth of field while at the same time changing the T stop unfortunately.
