Love this paper, but . . . defects

I love this paper for printing my photos. I've tried many others, but this one is the sweet spot for me. However, out of the last 4 rolls of paper I've used, three have had at least one defect that required me to trim and throw away some of the paper. They were all defects that would be easily visible in a print. I also had a defect in the last package of 17x22 sheets that I bought.

Can you print on both sides? If only one side, ...
Can you print on both sides? If only one side, which side? They both look identical.
You absolutely CAN print on both sides. There is a slight difference in texture on the designated printing side, but make no mistake, you can print effectively on both sides. My Christmas gift cards feature a family picture on one side and a Christmas themed print on the other.
