Lineco L533-1025 overview

  • 1Description

This 1" x 30' Gummed Linen Hinging Tape from Lineco is used to mount photographs and artwork to mounting boards and hinge together museum boards to create window mats. Book spines or maps can also be repaired and kept together by using the hinging tape.

The linen tape is water-activated, which creates a strong adhesive, but also allows it to come apart easily when water is reapplied. The acid-free linen tape is pH neutral and the fabric has a 65 / 55 thread count. As a result, the linen and adhesive have a stronger hold on larger pieces of art.

Lineco L533-1025 reviews

Gummed Linen Hinging Tape (1" x 30') is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does Well Pros: works as intended. seems to hold stronger the longer it is allowed to rest. Cons: getting the adhesive to activate wasn't the easiest I have used, but that is one of the drawbacks to archival tapes in general. If you allow the adhesive to rest the right amount of time before adhering it to your art/mat board then it works well, too late or too soon after activating the adhesive, it won't adhere properly. also quite a sticky job using it. But it works as intended, it's archival and holds well if used properly, so you can't complain much about the drawbacks of attaching it to whatever you are using it for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Remember the little things are important I use this tape to complete matting projects. It is the only tape I will use. When I went to craft stores to buy it, they didn't even know what tape I was talking about. It worries me to think what their custom framing departments are using as tape on mattes...yikes! FYI This tape is only available, to my knowledge, online. I found b&h was the best deal, and they shipped it quickly. Thank you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I used this tape to hinge mount mats in preparation for a show. The tape was easy to work with. It absorbed water well yet was still easy to handle once it was wet - not too sticky and did not curl or fold over onto itself. It takes several seconds for the water to soak in and for the adhesive to activate, but that makes it easy to work with. Once applied it held well, yet could still be maneuvered for a minute or so in case you needed make an adjustment. Once dry, the hinge was smooth and strong. I would definitely buy this product again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, worked well for my application. Used to reattach the backing on a mirror. The tape is easy to use, passing it through a saucer of water to wet. Gets very sticky and conforms to clips and nails holding the glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product at great price I use this tape to secure margin foam pieces to the back of gesso board when I decide to mat a piece of my art. It goes on beautifully, is easy to handle, and looks, and stays looking, professional. I actually bought my first box of the Lineco Linen Tape from a hobby store at a price far higher than B&H charges (almost double). So I was particularly pleased to find the product available on-line from another source and ordered two boxes from B&H to keep on hand..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Archival materials for framing It is essential that when framing you use non-acid materials. Linen tape is used to attach your photograph or paper artwork to the matt. The fibers in the tape make it easy to remove the tape from your art without tearing the print if for some reason you wish to do so. The glue must be moistened but is acid free and the tape is linen. I have been framing works for over 40 years and always use linen tape.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, for a first time I have never used linen tape before purchasing this package to using with matting. The instructions were easy to understand, and it being acid free was very important to me, to make my matting archival. I matted about ten prints with it, and still have a reasonable amount left.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only thing that works permanently I bought this to repair a huge watercolor painting that ripped. It has now stabilized and will not rip again. Just great product better than self-adhesive.
