    Impact LS-8AI reviews

Air-Cushioned Light Stand (Black, 8') is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 624.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wouldn't buy again I purchased two of these last year because of the great reviews. After 2 times of use one of them broke. I contacted B&H and because there was only a 30 day warranty on these I was told that it wasn't eligible for a return or replacement. Fast forward to a few months later, now the second one has broken. The pole on both pulls completely out of the stand and tightening it doesn't hold the stand up. The same exact thing happened to both stands so I'm certain it is a manufacturing defect. Super bummed and disappointed. I would definitely not buy this product again. I take extremely good care of my equipment and this should not have happened.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I would spend more and buy a higher quality stand. Cons: I should have expected this from such a cheap stand. Hard to open the legs. They stick. The clamps and knobs are plastic and feel like they will break if you accidentally over-tighten them. They also don't seem to have a stop point and will just keep on turning. On a stand this small and lightweight, the air-cushioining makes it difficult to extend the stand. Even for very occasional work, this stand is difficult to set up and not worth the effort in my opinion. Pros: The tubing is a good thickness and the tubes themselves seem sturdy. When the legs finally open, and you lock them down, they seem to stay put. Very lightweight to carry around.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not exactly cushioned Ordering this stand, I called in and asked about what product would work best and specifically asked about these stands. Customer service was helpful and polite. However, upon receiving the stands, they are not what I would consider cushioned. I use them with speedlights so they don't have a lot of weight, but I have to physically push them down to lower them, and there is a lot of friction with them so it can be difficult at times. I'm hoping this improves the more I use them and break them in. Other than that, they seem sturdy for what I need them for, which is quite simple.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very light but not so sturdy This stand is perfect for strapping to your backpack and going hiking (if you happen to be a strobist). It's very light and just compact enough that it'll work. I bought it specifically to replace my aging 8' stand that I'd take on portrait sessions that don't require an assistant. However, despite the fact that it cost exactly the same amount as the stand it's replacing, it's pretty flimsy and the action on it is sticky, making it difficult to open and collapse. Usually you get what you pay for with camera gear, but with this one you get a little less. So, 3 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile stands for general video production use I purchased a few of these stands to act as holders for a Zoom recorder, reflectors and any other small thing needing a tripod. These tripods have proven pretty versatile and valuable for the price. One of the tripods has a little difficulty getting the air out of one of the segments when collapsing, so it's very hard to fully collapse, but you really can't ask for more (besides a carry case, but that's wishful thinking). The standard head on these light stands fit everything I need them to, so they're exactly what I needed. Just don't go putting expensive lights on these without a sandbag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job I received this light stand a few weeks ago and finally put it to use with the Fotodiox Pro LED 508A and at first was a bit doubtful that it could hold the aformentioned light source. To my surprise, it actually held out pretty well. It does what it is intended to do. The air-cushion built into the extension prevents the product from sliding down rapidly when the adjustment knobs are loosened for repositioning. This is a great added security feature to protect your lights from slamming down and breaking. I would recommend sand bags or something to weigh these things down on windy days. I am happy so far with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good stand at an okay price... Stand works well.I have two of these and use them pretty much exclusively with TTL flashes and 45 umbrella's.At times I use it with a medium softbox and TTL flashes at lower heights. Expertise: Advanced amateur. Portrait Photography... Problems Encountered: Extending the legs on all Impact cushioned stands that I have are very fussy. At maximum height with a medium softbox and TTL flashes, I get a little paranoid. If you want to use this at maximum height, I highly recommend the Impact Cushioned 9.5ft stand... Previous Equivalent Item Owned: I own 7 Impact light stands total. 2 of the above, 2 x 9.5ft, 2 x 13ft boom, 3ft background stand all from B&H... Items I Recommend: Impact's cushioned 9.5ft stand as it's a great sturdy stand...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than anticipated. When I received the light stands, I was surprised how well they are constructed. Easy to adjust and attach light source. Also adapted for using umbrella.
