Canon 80D Overview

Get started producing professional-quality video with rich sound, excellent controls, and the essential accessories with this EOS 80D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens Video Creator Kit from Canon. Starring the EOS 80D alongside the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens with a wide angle to telephoto equivalent zoom range of 28.8-216mm for a vast variety of subjects. This works with the included PZ-E1 Power Zoom Adapter for fine control over zoom during focus. Also, a Rode VideoMic GO microphone is provided for getting clean, high-quality sound and a 32GB SDHC card is available for getting going right away.

RODE VideoMic GO Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone

Longer than Rode's VideoMicro and with a narrower pickup pattern, the Rode VideoMic GO camera-mount shotgun microphone offers enhanced off-axis rejection for tighter directionality. Like the VideoMicro, it runs on plug-in power and has no controls or switches, making it well suited for mobile journalists, vloggers, and run-and-gun shooters in a hurry.

This compact and lightweight shotgun microphone features an integrated shockmount that mounts directly to your DSLR, mirrorless, or video camera and reduces noise from vibrations and camera handling. The windscreen design reduces wind noise, making it well suited for outdoor shoots. The detachable coiled 3.5mm TRS cable ensures easy hookup to your camera, and the dual-mono output means that no channel selection is necessary on your recording device.

Shotgun Mic with Directional Sound Pickup
Whereas most built-in camera microphones pick up sound from all directions, this microphone utilizes a supercardioid polar pattern to focus on sound in front of it while attenuating sound from the sides and rear. Its active electronics and directional condenser element deliver more detailed audio than the mics typically found in cameras and portable recorders.
Easy Hookup to Camera
A detachable coiled 3.5mm cable is supplied for fast hookup to your camera. The cable is wired in a dual-mono configuration, ensuring that the mic signal is sent identically to both input channels of your camera or portable recorder.
Runs on Plug-In Power
No batteries are required to operate the VideoMic GO. Just connect the microphone to your camera or recorder, enable plug-in power on the device, and forget about swapping or charging batteries.
Integrated Shockmount Inhibits Vibrations
Understanding that the rubber bands used in many shockmounts can snap and stretch, Rode chose to integrate a rugged Rycote Lyre suspension-style shockmount. This simplifies setup of the mic and inhibits the transfer of vibrations from the camera. Plus, the bottom of the shockmount features a camera shoe mount with a 3/8" thread, ensuring easy attachment to your camera or a boompole such as Rode's Micro Boompole (available separately).
Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise
The VideoMic GO has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in outdoor environments, consider a furry windshield such as the Rode DeadCat GO (available separately).
Connectivity Options
Expand the microphone's device compatibility with Rode accessories such as the SC4, SC7, and VXLR+ (all available separately). With either the SC4 or SC7, you can connect the VideoMic GO directly to a smartphone or tablet equipped with a 3.5mm TRRS jack. The VXLR+ adapter is the ideal solution when you want to record the VideoMic GO to a camcorder or mixer that has XLR inputs.
Canon PZ-E1 Power Zoom Adapter

Designed to provide smoother, more natural zoom movements when recording video, the PZ-E1 Power Zoom Adapter is compatible with the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, and facilitates electronic zoom control. The adapter connects to the lens via an integrated locking mechanism, it features both speed mode and zoom mode switches, and remote-controlled zooming is also possible in conjunction with the EOS 80D using the Canon Camera Connect app or EOS Utility software. Compared to manually rotating the lens' zoom ring, this adapter enables steadier adjustment over zooming speed for repeatable effects.

Compatibility
Lenses:
  • EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

Remote zooming control is possible when used in conjunction with the EOS 80D DSLR and mobile devices running the Canon Camera Connect app or Mac/Windows computers with EOS Utility software.

As a film maker I absolutely love canon. Even tho the 80d came out in 2016 it's still a fantastic camera.

Huge step up from T2i

The relatively tight spot metering and focus is essential for Birds, a must have for me. The viewfinder is much brighter and larger than my previous Canon. Ultimately, if you are thinking of stepping up from an older Rebel, this camera is for you, a substantial improvement! Thanks too, to B&H for fast shipping, and many decades of perfect service!

I transitioned from a 30D to this 80D and some of the features were intimidating on Day 1. But as soon as I got my hand dirty and started playing around, it's amazing. The overall feel is good, the quality is good and love the Auto ISO, which I didn't have on the 30D. Great buy, in my opinion!

I am interested in this kit but I alreaady have a 24-105mm 1:4 L Lens. Should I just get the body and mic sepreate or is the included kit lense worth it?
Asked by: Anthony
The Canon 24-105mm f/4 L lens is superb and is of a superior quality on both build and image over the kit 18-135mm. However, in the kit is a unique zoom motor that only works with the 18-135mm. This can create very smooth on-camera zoom movement, a look that usually only be created by camcorders or digital cinema lenses costing thousands. If this is a tool you wish, this would be one way to do it.

There should not be any autofocus related issues with the Tamron 150-600mm lens (for Canon) and this camera.
