Designed for the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mm f/2.8-4.0 ASPH and the Apo-Vario-Elmarit-SL 90-280mm f/2.8-4.0 heavy Leica zoom lenses, the Tripod Collar for Select SL Lenses from Novoflex attaches quickly and achieves a stressless camera/lens balance point. The collar has an Arca-type dovetail making it compatible with the large group of manufacturers that use the Arca system of quick releases. The dovetail mounting plate also has alternative 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 female threads for those who want to attach the collar directly to the tripod head.

Tripod Collar for Select SL Lenses is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work with RRS Quick Release clamps First, it does work well to clamp the SL 24-90 and the SL 90-280 (redundant on this one). The clamp screw is on the left side viewed from camera rear, not the best, but it's a compromise. On the 24-90, the ring sits very close to the handgrip, so having the clamp screw there would not leave room for fingers. Ideally, the clamp screw should be on top, but then rotating the camera to portrait is problematic (finger clearance to the grip), unless you are a 'clockwise' rotator. Anyway, I'm OK with the clamp after playing with it. HOWEVER, one star because I use multiple RRS ball & leveling heads with arca swiss quick release clamps. The Novoflex slides right out of all of my quick release clamps! It was quite the surprise as I caught the camera on the way down. No problems with RRS quick release clamps and RRS plates (of course), Wimberly, and all others I have tried- except for this one. I did have one arca clamp floating around that worked- it had a knob screw tightening mechanism. But surprise again- on one other (I think it was a Custom Bracket clamp) I could not tighten the hand screw knob far enough to clamp the Novoflex because there was a stop in the hand screw mechanism. Bottom line- your results will depend on the type of arca swiss clamp you have. It's pricey, but limited market, so that's OK. I returned it- I would have kept it if the arca foot was more 'compatible'.
