Find a normal perspective with your F-mount camera with this AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens with Accessory Kit from B&H. Included with the lens are 58mm UV and circular polarizer filters, a microfiber cleaning cloth, and a lens cleaning spray.

  • Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens

The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens from Nikon is an attractive alternative to the classic 50mm f/1.4 "normal" lens for everyday shooting with an FX or 35mm camera. The 50mm f/1.8 is nearly as "fast" as the f/1.4 and provides reduced lens flare and ghosting as well as superior color consistency through the use of Nikon's Super Integrated Lens Coating. One aspherical lens element virtually eliminates coma and spherical aberration.

Nikon's Silent Wave Motor gives you smooth, silent and precise autofocus operation, and the M/A mode lets you quickly and easily override the autofocus system for fine manual focusing. This lens is also compatible with DX cameras and when used with a DX camera, the angle of view would be equivalent to a 75mm focal length lens.

Fast f/1.8 Compact FX-Format Prime Lens
This updated classic with a fast maximum aperture is ideal for everyday shooting, perfect in low lighting situations and great for shallow depth of field control, producing images with beautiful background blur. When used on DX-format DSLRs its 35mm focal length equivalency is 75mm.
    Shoot Tack-Sharp Portraits Every Time
Nikon's Super Integrated Coating (SIC) enhances light transmission efficiency and offers superior color consistency and reduced flare, while an aspherical lens element virtually eliminates coma and other types of aberrations, even when shooting at the widest available aperture.
    Quiet Autofocus
A significant innovation in AF lens technology, Nikon's Silent Wave Motor uses ultrasonic (inaudible) vibrations-rather than a gear system-to focus the lens, providing incredibly smooth, silent and precise autofocus operation.
Quick Switching from AF to MF
When fine manual focusing is needed, simply rotate the lens focus ring. M/A mode allows you to seamlessly override the AF system with virtually no time lag.

  • Luminesque 58mm Circular Polarizer and UV Slim PRO Filter Kit

Combining two of the most useful filters available, Luminesque's 58mm Circular Polarizer and UV Slim PRO Filter Kit is well-suited to all forms of photography. Both filters are constructed from Schott optical glass and feature a 12-layer multi-coating for maintained clarity and image quality. Each filter is also set in an anodized aluminum filter ring, with the UV filter featuring a slim 3.4mm-thick profile to lessen the likelihood of vignetting with wide-angle lenses.

The UV filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. It is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times in order to reduce dust and moisture from reaching the front lens element and to provide additional protection in case of accidental impacts. Its 12-layer multi-coating also helps to achieve 98.2% light transmission for faithful color reproduction and contrast.

The circular polarizer filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions.

    Luminesque PRO
    • Constructed from Schott optical glass for maintained image quality and clarity.
    • A 12-layer multi-coating helps to reduce surface reflections and glare for improved contrast and color neutrality.
    • Anodized aluminum filter rings feature a knurled top edge for easier installation and removal.
    UV Slim Filter
    • Absorbs UV light and reduces bluish cast of daylight for greater image clarity.
    • Clear filter provides no additional coloration or contrast, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
    • Works as general protection filter to reduce dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching the front lens element.
    • 12-layer multi-coating helps to realize a high light transmission rate of 98.2%.
    • Slim filter ring incorporates front threads and measures 3.4mm-thick to lessen the likelihood of vignetting when used on wide-angle lenses.
    Circular Polarizer Filter
    • Reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
    • Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
    • Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
    • Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.

  • Nikon Lens Cleaning Spray (1 oz)

The Lens Cleaning Spray from Nikon is a 1 oz bottle of basic cleaning solution for photographic lenses and sports optics. The fluid should be sprayed on to a lens cleaning cloth or lens tissue and then gently applied to the optical surface to remove dirt, dust, or oils. Keeping your optics clean ensures sharp images and helps to prevent the degradation of lens coatings.

    Nikon 50mm f/1.8 reviews

    AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 1484.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't bother on the 1.4G version First I must say I own both 1.4 and 1.8 versions. Simply put: there is no reasonable argument to go for the 1.4G version, the end. First of all, almost no difference in results when you compare 1.4 and 1.8 images. Half the price. Same plastic body (in any case, cheap enough to buy a new one if it fails). And last but not least, and here I must be honest, I'm not sure if my 1.4G copy came up flowed, but I found 1.8G to be equally fast (or faster) and more accurate AF, plus sharper wide open. Bonus (oh yeah): its lighter and smaller than the 1.4G. It's a no brainer kids. No matter if you are a pro, amateur or just starting with DSLR, you must own this lens. Along with the magnificent 85mm 1.8G, I use it 80% of the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game changer You really can't go past the 50mm 1.8. It's awesome for pretty much every avenue of photography you want to get into. If you want to capture some crisp night images, its possible with the 1.8 apperture. You can also snap some beautiful portraits with incredibly soft bokeh. This is your go to lens, definitely a game changer. There is some difficulty getting used to the set 50mm focal legnth. However, you will come to realise it rapidly improves your photography. For such a reasonable price, you really get an A+ product. I shopped around for the most effective all round lens and ended up here.I definitely recommend this product to any photography enthusiast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Puts the Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4G to shame This lens puts the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G to shame and at half the price! I own both and can tell you, both lenses produce beautiful bokeh, but the 50mm 1.8G is much sharper than the 50mm 1.4G, probably due to the aspherical element. I would say the 50mm 1.8G is almost as sharp as my 35mm 1.8G - almost. I run all my lenses wide open, and the 50mm 1.4G focus turns soft unless you stop it down to at least f/2. Hey, if you need a fast low light lens that doesn't perform when its wide open, what's the point?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AF S Nikkor 50mm F/1.8G Lens by Nikon Love this lens. Amazing clarity, great focus, beautiful bokeh. I am using this lens with my Nikon D300s. Mounted on a cropped-frame / DX-format body, 50mm becomes equivalent to 75mm and thus becomes a prime candidate for portrait-photography as it gives you some distance from your subject which leads to a flattering perspective. It might even be more fit for portraiture in small studios on a DX-body than a 85mm prime as it renders a larger frame from any given distance. This is an affordable prime lens and will autofocus on any Nikon body. Great value for money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Lens Very Sharp I'm a landscape photographer but decided to pick up this lens after hearing many great things. I didn't need the 1.4 because I just wanted it to walk around and get a new perspective. This is a very nice lens, you can tell it's pretty well built even though it's plastic. It has a rear seal to protect it from the elements so you don't have to worry. The bokeh is delicious! The sharpness and focusing are both very accurate. the only real complaint I can find is that if you're using a DX camera the focal length might be a little bit on the longer side for you. If you want a normal lens go for the 35 1.8 DX. I have that as well and it's amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Lens for the money I purchased the Nikon 50mm F/1.8G lens after a lot of research. I have not been disappointed. I got this lens with the thought of using it mainly for portraits. I have since tried using it for some landscapes as well. I am very impressed with the image quality of the photos I have taken so far. They are far superior to the kit lens that came with my Nikon D90. The lens is very fast to focus and quite sharp. If there is one downside I would have to say that at the widest aperature (1.8 to about 2.4) the auto focus does not always find correct focus. I tend to switch to manual due to this. Even given the one downside this is a great lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent lens for fast shooting This is ideal portrait focal length on DX camera. I use it on D7100. Whenever I need to shoot in low-light or faster shutter speeds, this is an excellent choice. It does very well what it is designed for. This lens has a variety of applications when used outdoors. Why I give 4 starts is for lack of VR. what that means is that for smaller apertures and slower shutter speeds, you still need a tripod. If your shooting needs are such, then look for a VR alternative. This lens has limited use indoor, probably just portraits, because I need a wider angle. This is not a defect of the lens but just the nature of this focal length on a DX camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Lens by Nikon My first prime lens, shooting with a D3100. Chose the 50mm because of it being1/12 the equivalent of 35mm for ASP-C DSLRs. Got it for portrait work, weddings and everyday candit use. Shooting in Manual and Auto, I've gotten really good and sharp images, however in Shutter Priority @ 1/125 I was able to get tack sharp images. I can't really vouch for the low-light performance since I'm always shooting with speedlight or off camera flash. One of the main reasons I opted for the 50mm is I read it was good for full body portraits, however I was not quite prepared for the distance needed for such, however for small to medium groups it works very well.
