Is the system applicable for outdoor use by for example crane operators and similar job functions?
The Eartec UL3D UltraLITE 3-Person Headset System is designed for broadcast and stage production applications. We do offer two way radios from Kenwood and Motorola which are more suitable products for crane operators. The challenge will be isolation headsets. Those will need to be custom made.

Can the frequency be switched, when used in a heavy wireless environment? I often work where the wireless freqs need to be coordinated so everyone isn't stepping on each other.
No you can not change the frequency this system. It has a fix frequency 1728 GHz you should not get any interference using this system.
