When searching for a way to get digital audio into the Sony A7 series camera, B&H suggested this adapter. Mounts on the hot shoe, Sony wireless receiver slides in and you're all set! Bada bung! Easy as pie! And absolutely affordable! Thanks, B&H!

If you've got a recent Sony camera that has a smart hot-shoe (check the list...mine was on it), this adapter works great with the Sony Digital Receiver(s) to transmit audio directly without need for another wire. Super cool for gimbal work.

I am shooting with the A7SIII and have been using ...

I am shooting with the A7SIII and have been using the UTX-P03D. When I use the dual channel SMAD Unit, the ability to control audio levels in camera is suddenly disabled. Also the in the menu the (MI Shoe Audio Set) option is grayed out, not allowing me to control my levels anymore. Because of this I've been using the 2 channel Sony provided 3.5mm jack. Am I missing something, or does this SMAD unit only provide auto gain with no ability to control audio levels?

Awaiting a Call-Back from Sony on this, to confirm compatibility/usability with the A7s iii. One "theory" is that the A7siii is a "consumer" product and may not be (fully?) compatible. The Sony URX-P03D wireless receiver is to used with interface Sony SMAD-P5 Digital MI Shoe Adapter for UWP-D Series. The Sony SMADP3D Multi-Interface Shoe Adapter is compatible with the Sony a6300. User may connect the Sony URX-P03D 2-Channel Portable Receiver to the a6300 using this multi-interface shoe adapter.

Can I get 4 audio channels, like the XLR-K3M can ...

Can I get 4 audio channels, like the XLR-K3M can do? I am using the SAMD P3D on A7siii. I can only get one stereo channel to the camera. When I try to set the camera menu to audio hot shoe settings it says my audio device needs to be switch to digital. I cannot find that setting. It worked on the XLR-K3M Camera firmware updated Please advise

No, this adapter provides two channels (left and right) of audio to the a7SIII when using a Sony URX-P03D dual-channel wireless receiver. The audio signal sent to the camera is analog, not digital. The adapter enables a wireless connection to the camera's mic input using the Multi-Interface Shoe.

The SMAD-P3D cannot be used with the URX-P03 nor the URX-P40. The Sony SMAD-P5 is directly compatible with the URX-P03.

Yes, the Sony SMADP3D Multi-Interface Shoe Adapter will work with the Sony FX6 Full-Frame Cinema Camera, as it contains the Multi-Interface shoe necessary for compatibility.

The Sony SMADP3D was listed as a recommended adapter for the PMW-300K1. I bought both and have realized the PMW-300K1 doesn't have the necessary MI shoe. Is there an additional adapter sold to make this work with the PMW300?

Unfortunately, the recommendation may have been an error. You are correct in that the Sony PMW-300K1 does not have an MI shoe. There is no adapter available at this moment that will allow you to integrate the Sony SMADP3D with the camera.
