The Befree Live Video Head is Manfrotto's first traveler-style video head and has a minimalist design. It's a fluid head with pan and tilt video features, and has a 40mm flat base with a 3/8"-16 mounting thread compatible with many photo tripods and monopods.

Highly compact, the Befree Live Video Head is easy to set up and use, and is designed for small camera setups weighing up to 8.8 lb. It is ideal for lightweight, mobile applications, such as vlogging.

The Befree Head comes with a Manfrotto 501PL Sliding Quick Release Plate. It also includes a pan bar, which is removable to allow for even more portability.

A knob on the side and another on the front allow you to control pan and tilt drag separately. Another knob on top releases the camera plate. There's also a bubble level. The Befree Head weighs under 1 lb and offers complete 360° of pan movement.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good but... Light head, but not as fluid. A lot of jerking motion when titling. Panning seemed fine. When adjusting the tension for the pan and tilt, it mat be hard since the nobs are tiny. I'm a wedding videographer and using this head will give you headaches and regrets. Returned for the 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for smaller setups Its not as smooth as the 502HD. It doesnt have the same level of pan & tilt drag adjustment capabilities as the 502HD but at half the price -- I wouldn't expect it to. The Befree is definitely a significant upgrade over a fixed drag pan & tilt head. The construction is robust enough and I will have no qualms if I ever need it to support my heavier gear. While it has the same load capacity (8.8 lbs.) as the 128RC, the Befree has a more efficient design that allows it to be over a pound lighter. This head is exactly what I needed. : ) Its lightweight and uses the shorter 501PL quick release instead of the 509 (502HD), yet it offers greater stability than the 128RC head which uses the much smaller 200PL. This was very important to me given my specific setup. I am using this head to house my b-roll camera (G7) which typically has a Rokinon 85mm 1.4 attached to it. Since that lens weighs more than the camera itself (20g vs 14g), I use a short 15mm rod rig + lens support to protect the mounts and increase stability. The problem was that in order to mount that specific rig to the 502HD, I would first have to disassemble the lens support + hood, mount it and then reassemble the lens support & hood. This was due to 502HD's length and it was a complete pain to deal with but now I don't have to anymore. : )

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not up to standards set by Manfrotto long ago. I really wanted to like this head. So much so that I boxed it up to send it back, unboxed it again, and then finally sent it back. I have six other video heads which are mostly much larger, and the idea was to get a small, light head for atop a video monopod. The biggest problem was lack of drag. Most of us humans don't have perfect muscle control and need resistance to move things smoothly. The Befree Live has some drag but it was insufficient to keep out jerkiness. I also didn't like the little knobs for locking the camera into the quick release housing, and locking the tilt. Much better are the lever locks on the 700RC2 as long as you take the time to set them up right and learn how to use them. Manfrotto should pull the Befree Live and replace it with something else which incorporates the fluid cartridges which work so well on their other small heads. I ended up buying another 700RC2. It lacks camera balancing, but at least you can get good movement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Little Fluid Head I bought this to go with my Manfrotto Befree Tripod - I had the old model with the ball head. For what it is (an ultra-portable fluid head) it works beautifully. With something like this, you want to ensure the tripod is properly anchored, as the light weight leads to vibrations. I've actually found leaving IS on helps in these situations. The one con I've found for this fluid head is that the tripod doesn't fold quite as small as it does with the old ball head, necessitating a new case. It's not a huge deal, especially as it's so portable still.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Head, Perfect Size I bought this to use on two different sliders that I have, and I don't think I could have found a better head. This is small and lightweight, which makes it perfect for any DSLR or the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera (which is what I use). If you need a compact and light head for your slider, this is the one to get.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits the job I purchased this tripod head to go with theManfrottoElement Big Aluminum Traveler Tripod, It is a perfect fit. The tripod folds up exceptionally well. The tripod comes with a ballhead but I needed a head that can pan and tilt. This head ticks all boxes. As expected it is not the smoothest action but for a very portable system it works well enough. For more sophisticated moves and when portability is not an issue I have a heavier tripod and head.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from For light cameras only Its small, light and smooth but not of a full frame DSLR with a Zoom lens. It should work good on lighter cameras. I also bought a 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 Reducer Bushing but it's no necessary because the tripod comes with one

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great small head It breaks all the rules its good fast and cheap and lightweight! Works perfectly with my GH4 on video shoots as a back camera. Can pan well, tilt/pan needs some expertise to be smooth.
