Vortex RS-65A overview

  • 1Description

The Vortex Optics 45° angled-viewing Razor HD 22-48x65 Spotting Scope is engineered with superior glass and specialized optical coatings to provide clear and bright images at all magnifications. The triplet apochromatic lens configuration is made of high-density (HD) extra-low dispersion (ED) glass to increase light transmission, minimize distortion, and virtually eliminate chromatic aberration. All air-to-glass surfaces have Vortex's XRPlus anti-reflective coatings to minimize light loss and maximize image brightness, while the Porro prisms have highly reflective dielectric coatings that improve brightness, clarity, and color accuracy. This combination of coatings and optics creates a spotting scope that produces bright, clear, high-contrast images with accurate color rendition.

The lightweight and armored magnesium-alloy chassis is O-ring sealed and argon filled to be water and fogproof. A helical focus system, with a wide adjustment collar, allows for fast, yet fine focusing even when wearing gloves. The scope has a 1/4"-20 tripod mounting shoe and a tripod collar that rotates to permit the eyepiece to be positioned in the best viewing position. A retractable lens shade helps to reduce glare while keeping snow or rain off the objective lens.

  • 22-48x zoom magnification

    Vortex RS-65A reviews

Razor HD 22-48x65 Spotting Scope (Angled Viewing) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scope I just recently bought one for this years (2017) hunting season. I'm after antelope, elk, and deer so I can use it for all. It's a great scope and it already came in handy for antelope season. The optics are great and clear. I went with the 22-48 because I noticed the 27-60, when you got up in the 60 range, would really pick up the heat waves in the desert. They would almost distort the sight picture, even the 48 power does to some extent but it was really noticeable at 60. They are built like tanks and like always, you can't beat the VIP warranty. This is one of many Vortex scopes and spotting scopes that I own and I see no reason that I would ever change.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great spotting scope. This is a great spotting scope. It is well designed and well made. I bought it for birding and general wildlife viewing. I have also used it to look at the moon and for star gazing. I have been very impressed. It is light enough to easily carry into the field. It is very easy to use. i have been impressed by how clear it is, even in low light conditions. I have not been able to compare it to other brands, but it would be difficult to see how any other scope could be noticeably clearer. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saves lots of walking!! I use this spotter while guiding in Montana and Alaska. It has saved me many miles of walking, to get a closer look at an animal. This scope is crystal clear and focuses great, for a clear precise view. As expected with the Razor line, it is focused all the way out to the edge of the field of view. I have the 65mm and it gathers light great, to give me those extra few minutes of glassing during those important low light times of day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Razor HD is the Bomb! My middle son and I traveled from CO to AZ this past November for a Coues hunt. We had never hunted Coues prior to the trip, much less even seen a live Coues prior. We quickly learned why they are called "The Gray Ghost"! They are certainly a challenge to spot, then, after you find them, it is as if they vanish in to thin air! The Razor 22-48x65 was amazing! I am so glad I invested in this fine piece of equipment prior to the hunt. Coues hunting is a glassing game, many hours at a time. The Razor was comfortable and our eyes did not fatigue. The color and clarity is amazing and was invaluable in spotting these tiny deer. On the last morning, we glassed up a decent buck at 750 yards. After closing the distance, the buck fell to 6.5 Creedmoor at 440 yards. Good job Josh! And once again, thanks Vortex for the best optics! We are definitely Vortex "Lifers"!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lucky winner Incredible glass. Was fortunate enough to win this scope. I run vipers and Diamondbacks on my rifles and shotguns. But the razor glass is amazing compared to the "lower end" scopes that are just as amazing. I hunt in the east so do not really need the spotting scope. But was using it out back out to 700 yards really impressive and well built. I would definitely reccomend this. As well as a phone skope. Makes viewing really nice

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW! This is the first spotting scope I've purchased. I was tired of using other's scopes which were hard to identify bears or count antlers at long distances. I am very happy I saved a little longer and got the top end scope. I take this thing on any hunting or hiking trip I go on anymore. I've looked at deer, bear, elk, sheep, goat and moose with this scope. I won't be replacing this anytime soon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in class I did hours of research and spent multiple hours looking through different spotting scopes. I finally narrowed it down to the viper or razor. The difference was I could see that a roof was brown at 700 yards with the viper. With the razor I could see the roof was an architectural shingle roof at 700 yards and could read the license plate on the car under the shed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I expected I have had a few competitors spotting scopes over the past decade. Last year I decided to give the Razor HD 65mm a try. I used it last year while mule deer hunting in the deserts, and elk hunting in the high mountains. It performed better then expected. It was light, and had a crisp, sharp image. I would recommend this scope to anyone.
