BlackRapid 361007 overview

  • 1Description

The BlackRapid Curve Breathe Camera Strap is designed to be worn across a right-handed user's body, draped from the left shoulder to the right hip. A connected camera can then rest upside-down along the hip so that it can be quickly raised for use. Incorporating a moisture-wicking shoulder pad, this strap is built to provide most photographers with a comfortable and versatile carrying solution for one camera. Additionally, it is an effective option for thin or smaller-framed photographers who intend to move quickly whether on flat or rugged terrain.

The Curve Breathe further stabilizes the attached camera when used with its included BlackRapid Brad Breathe Stabilizing Strap. The Brad Breathe secures this strap under the user's left shoulder and prevents the attached camera from twisting as it rests along one's right side. When camera movement along the side is less of a concern, the Brad Breathe is easy to remove.

To attach to a camera or a lens, the BlackRapid Curve Breathe Camera Strap features a durable, brass and zinc-alloy CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. An included BlackRapid FR-5 FastenR Breathe creates a connection point using a camera or lens's 1/4"-20 tripod mount. The FR-5 FastenR Breathe has a large, integrated D-ring for easy use with BlackRapid straps that utilize a CR-3 ConnectR.

The length of this strap is adjustable from 36.0 to 65.8" and its nylon webbing measures up to 1.0" wide. Spring-loaded bumper locks that can be slid up and down the length of the strap's webbing make it especially easy to limit excess camera movement along the length of the Curve Breathe. When multiple cameras or lenses need to be carried, a separately-available BlackRapid CoupleR Strap allows a BlackRapid Curve camera strap to be joined with a second camera strap, that is also compatible with a CoupleR, to create a functional double-camera harness.

A nylon pouch is included for storage and transport, as well as a plastic BlackRapid Lockstar Breathe Carabiner Protector, which is compatible with BlackRapid straps that feature a CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. By folding over a CR-3 ConnectR, the Lockstar Breathe prevents unintentional user contact with a CR-3 ConnectR that could cause it to accidentally unlock. Additionally, it helps to block the metal surface of a CR-3 ConnectR from scratching a connected camera or lens.

    BlackRapid 361007 reviews

Curve Breathe Camera Strap is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great strap with one limitation I've only used it a few times but I like it a lot. Easy to swing up to take a photo, camera rides pretty well at my hip. The new clips to limit forward sway are great additions. I am giving 4 stars because the BRAD strap hook sometimes slips off when I'm not wearing it. I nearly lost the strap when stuffing the big strap into my bag recently. I think I have fixed it with duct tape (what else), maybe not a pretty, but effective. I am using the BlackRapid Arco-Swiss tripod mount on my camera. It has a ring for the camera, and the camera slides onto the tripod easily and quickly (after unhooking the strap). This arrangement works well for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully Made Strap Bought this strap to replace the default Nikon neck strap for my D5500. Beautifully made and finished, the materials are first-class and all metal fixtures are smooth and sturdy. Strap fits well, adjusts easily, and (albeit with limited use thus far) has proven to be very comfortable. I also fasten it to my Sigma 150-600 zoom (at the lens mount). That lens on the camera, plus a 2-times TC and motor body, is a very heavy set-up, however it feels secure and safe. The swivel clasp ensures the combination sits properly on my hip whilst the sliding lock mechanism works really smoothly. A good buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better and safer than traditional neck strap My newest lens weighs 4 pounds and my camera weighs 2 pounds. I was concerned at the stress this weight was putting on the strap and lugs. B&H suggested this strap. It screws into the tripod socket hole on the camera or lens collar. It fits comfortably on the shoulder, once you get it adjusted. However, that depends on what you are wearing - a heavy winter coat needs a different adjustment from a light jacket. If there is no load on the strap, it can slip of the shoulder. Initially, I found it awkward to put on but now it is easier. It is more comfortable to walk with compared to the neck strap; I would carry the heavy kit in my arms, like a baby. Now, the kit sits at my hip and I can keep one hand on it for extra security. I bought a tether that connects the strap to one of the strap lugs on the camera. This guards against the screw coming loose or failing. I'd give it 4.5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built Amateur photographer for atleast a decade. Saw the reviews and went for a completely different(for me) camera strap. It was definitely eye opening to see how a regular camera strap is so uncomfortable and in stark contrast how comfortable the blackrapid strap is. I was really impressed by the build quality. It feels great to handle and i feel confident that it will not break and break my camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for lighter loads This strap seems to be well made. However, for heavier camera/lens combinations (eg 150-600 Sigma, etc), there are a couple of things that could be better. The curved shoulder piece is a great idea, but it is too narrow for the heavier set-ups causing shoulder fatigue relatively quickly; this piece may be far more comfortable if it was about twice its width. Also the biner that should be plastic coated (or a non-metallic material) so as not to cause metal-to-metal wear on the eyes on tripod plates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing This is by far the best strap I've ever used. It's so nice to be able to quickly grab the camera without having the strap catch on clothes or having to take it off entirely in order to get the camera to the position you want. The under arm strap is great for keeping it in place, especially if you're doing anything active. It also feels very durable and the ring that attaches to the camera is extremely heavy duty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get the weight off your neck. I have a Sony 99ii and a 70-400mm lens that weighs over 5 lbs. It is a lot to lug around for a day of shooting and this strap takes the weight off of my neck. I found it tricky to put on initially, but now it is easy. One downside is that my gear swings against my pants leg and the rubber focus and zoom rings leave dark marks on light colored materials. When I'm walking, I hold the camera to stop it moving around too much. I think attaching it to the tripod screw makes a more secure strap than the usual lugs, especially with a big lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Carries my 6D II + EF 100-400 IS L II for hours After initially receiving this strap, I thought it might be a bit small to carry the combo for several hours but although there was a slight settling in period, after that I barely noticed it and didn't even feel the under-arm retaining strap until I thought about it again. I'm quite surprised. It even breathes as well as they claim. I was sweating a bit from running around a zoo all day, but my left shoulder was no worse than my right. There are only two things I wish were different: I would have preferred, probably more out of paranoia than anything, that the position of the buckle for the main strap was on the front, but I suppose they decided there wasn't enough padding for that, and the stop will hold the camera up on the strap should that buckle mysteriously release. I also wish the BR logomark weren't stark white, but I guess if I'm lugging a 100-400 L around then a single white logomark is probably the least of my concerns about ostentation.
