Roland V-1SDI Overview

Roland's V-1SDI 4-Channel HD Video Switcher supports HD-only video signals over three of its inputs and can support SD, HD, and computer video formats up to 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) at 60 Hz on its fourth. It supports progressive and interlaced material, internally converting the interlaced footage to progressive for processing. Featuring a preview, program, and multiview output, you can easily monitor all your inputs at once on the multiview while isolating your preview and program screens.

The HDMI inputs and multiview output are HDCP compliant, while the SDI inputs and SDI preview and program outputs support SMPTE 424M (SMPTE 425M-AB), 292M, and 259M-C. You can control the unit via the built-in RS-232 port, or via a PC using the USB connection. Eight memory functions enable you to recall specific setups, which makes it easier to get up and running when the switcher is shared among different productions. Built-in features include image freeze and output fades.

Video Input
The switcher handles four video inputs, up to three SDI and up to two HDMI. Inputs 1 to 3 are SDI, with input 3 shared between SDI and HDMI with support for HD video formats. Input 4 is HDMI-only and, in addition to supporting HD video, also supports SD and computer formats.
Audio Input
The switcher supports analog audio in, as well as mic input with or without plug-in power.

  • The built-in memory function allows the memorization and convenient recall of panel settings, such as effect assignment to each button. The memory stores up to eight configurations and keeps stored settings, even with the power off

easy to set up and use. Don't know it can hold a title slide image but other than that it is perfect.

As always I get a product, check for latest firmware and software before use. Since then had it for 8 months and never any problem with it. Used it in several 8 hours event production with computer and cameras and works perfect. On a table with cables and airflow in open air. One small note maybee but always important, same format on all inputs important (apart from the hdmi 3 scaler input) can make it lock up.. mostly used it in 1080i or 720p.

I cannot see the sdi output signal neither the pvw nor the pgm. I can sure the hd sdi cable and the hd sdi monitor work well. Please help me solve this problem.

Is there any way of running a Aux signal?

The V-1SDI has two SDI outputs, one for Program and the other for Preview. They cannot be changed to an Aux input though for operations like sending out a clean signal or a specific isolated camera only.

What's the best way to use this unit with 2 cameras coming in, with a computer input that will be running a PowerPoint presentation? Will this switcher scale the incoming computer signal? Thanks in advance!

This product has two dedicated 3G SDI inputs, a third channel input that supports 3G SDI or HDMI and a fourth channel HDMI input that also includes scaling. Depending on the outputs your camera offer you can have both of them going into the SDI inputs or have one use the SDI input and one using the HDMI input ( third channel ).

Remote control is possible with the product using dedicated computer software for Mac and PC when connected via a USB cable. Software can be downloaded from the manufacture's website. http://proav.roland.com/products/v-1sdi/downloads/

This unit can handle either 50FPS or 59.94 but not both at the same time nor can it do signal conversion on the fly.

Can I use Canon XA10 cameras that only record at 1080 i/p 30 fps with this mixer?

You need to convert the signal from the camera. You can use this converter. It take the camera's HDMI signal and turns it into and 59.94 for the mixer. Datavideo DAC-9P HDMI to HD/SD-SDI 1080p/60 Converter B&H # DADAC9P.
