Roland V-1HD overview

  • 1Description

Roland's V-1HD 4 x HDMI Input Switcher is a portable solution for HD video production that accommodates up to four HD inputs. The inputs each have a frame buffer/TBC so that you don't need to Genlock your input sources together. You can control the switcher manually by using the built-in controls or connect it to a computer or iPad running optional software for electronic control. Select your working resolution and switch between your four input sources. Built into the switcher is a 12-channel audio mixer, which can de-embed and embed audio signals from HDMI.

The integrated T-fader allows you to manually control the speed of transitions, or you can use the take button to actuate your selected transition. The unit features a program and multi-view preview output as well as an analog audio input and output. Though small in size, it allows you to perform picture-in-picture, green-screen, and other keying effects, and a transform control enables advanced video effects on your footage.

HD Switcher
This portable HD switcher supports four inputs of HD video. It allows you to select 1080i, 1080p, or 720p as your input source. Each input incorporates a frame buffer/TBC that allows you to use non Gen-locked cameras as well as play-out devices as video sources. You select the broadcast system (59.94/50 Hz) within the menu. The format selector switch is a global switch that affects the input and output format. However, with the switch in either of the 1080 options, the V-1HD enables input of both 1080i and 1080p signals.
Audio Mixer
The built-in, 12-channel audio mixer allows you to de-embed audio from the HDMI stream, mix, and re-embed the audio into your output stream. The audio mixer is accessed by a connected PC running the available software.
Output Modes
The V-1HD features two HDMI outputs, one output always shows your switched program output. The other output (preview) can be switched between program output and multiview of your four sources.
Control buttons
The soft rubber back-lit buttons allow you to easily see the condition of your switcher, even in dim lighting conditions.
Red: Indicates the current source being output.
Green: Indicates video source that will be output on next transition.
Transitions
There are three buttons for applying transition effects, CUT, Mix (4-types), and Wipe (30-types).
Beats Per Minute Sync
By using the T-Fader bar and the BP< Sync button, you can deliver visuals synced to a music performance.
Memory

    Roland V-1HD reviews

V-1HD Portable 4 x HDMI Input Switcher is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A versatile, small HDMI production switcher. Used this recently with three cameras and a laptop as sources for a live stream. These were three different cameras, one pro, one prosumer, and one consumer video cam. Program throughput through a Ninja Blade recorder/monitor, converted to a USB signal through aEpiphanAV.io. Preview output into an LCD monitor, showing all four inputs. Took audio from a house mixer through the RCA jacks. Performed well, had enough menu settings to deal with some of the technical and compatibility issues. Surprisingly, the toughest camera to get to work with the system was the pro camera's HDMI output. Eventually found a output format that was compatible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Run & Gun tiny mixer First an foremost I think some people will complain about all the things it doesn't do, but at a few dollars under a grand I frankly don't have any complaints. It feels well made and sturdy and perfect for quick setup i tight spaces. I use this to switch corporate talking heads on a two camera shoot and I have two additional inputs for a laptop presentation or a video. One note: it has a small fan that runs when you turn it on but it's very quiet and I haven't picked it up on any of my mics. At this price order a couple. What a bargain!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact portable switcher if you are on a budget! Multi-cam setup is great with my Canon Vixia camcorders and laptop. Just so you know, I am recording to the Atomos Ninja 2 getting great quality results.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice product but fan is way too noisy! I needed this for a webcasting studio setup where I would be mixing video inputs on the fly as I am presenting. As such, the mixer needs to be close to me and therefore within 3 feet of my microphone. So, after paying almost $1,000 for the mixer, imagine my disappointment to hear an unacceptably loud fan coming from the Roland. Come on guys -for $1,000 for a studio environment piece of equipment where silent equipment is an obvious priority, this is not good enough. That being said, I do like the Rolan's construction, feel and user-friendly operation. I'd consider giving 5 stars if it was not for the fan noise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best little HDMI mixer for the Buck! I'm a corporate trainer and I use this mixer to create on line training video and live streaming video training. I have a two camera setup with the other two HDMI input ports for mixing two HDMI computer sources. Recently I took the show on the road and the Roland V-1HD did not disappoint. It was perfect for recording and editing our national sales meetings. The AV guys were so impressed with the mixer they bought one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient and easy to use Small size and powerful features. The V-1HD does a split screen that helps keep each split centered without distortion. Corner inserts have borders. It also has built in audio delay and enhancements that make it versatile. Clever design for the menus. On the downside, there are no color and size adjustments for each input; and all inputs must be either 1080 (i/p) or all 720p. I bring along a 1080 scaler to correct this for some devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection. Literally everything you ever dreamed of for an HD video mixer for under $1,000. Incredibly easy to use, lightweight and portable, full HD quality, extensive audio controls including EQ and reverb, plus boatloads of extra features including picture-in-picture, chroma key for live green screen, and tons of other effects that I haven't even had time to discover yet. This thing is fully loaded. I am a video professional using this mixer for live internet broadcasts. I've been doing regular broadcasts for the past several months shooting on Sony A7S II, A7II, and EX1R cameras and I have had nothing but success with this mixer. I split the output with an HDMI splitter, and send it out to a BlackMagic VIdeo Assist or Atomos Ninja to record to SD card or SSD, while simultaneously sending it to a Teradek VidiU to stream online via Facebook Live or Youtube. It has worked perfectly every time and it's almost unbelievable that something this powerful is under $1,000. Honestly a dream come true.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE BEST!!!! I highly recommend this switcher to anybody who wants produce a high quality and stable video production. I use this for our church's live streaming @ 720p 60 hz. I have 3 cameras: 1 GoPro, Panasonic AC-AG30, a handy cam, and 1 PC input for lower thirds and graphics. It works great! I never regretted I bought this. It is small, light weight, and easy to carry. Also it has built in audio mixer which is great for small tweaks during live streaming.
