Properly balance heavier observation rigs on telescopes utilizing fork-mounts with Losmandy's DVWS 2.5 lb Counterweight System. The base is compatible with their larger D-series and smaller V-series plates and comes outfitted with a 5" long threaded rod that matches the threads on the 2.5 lb weight's bore-hole, allowing you to precisely balance the load by turning the weight one way, or the other. The longer rod is useful with especially heavy loads, as it provides a greater balancing range.

Losmandy DVWS Reviews
Best device to balance my refractors
Some people slide their scope in the rings, which requires loosening both rings and then retightening them. With this sliding counterweight, I can loosen it with my left hand and slide it to balance the scope. My right hand is used to loosen the alt clutch and determine if the scope is balanced perfecdtly. If not, I simply move the sliding counterweight again and get perfect balance. My scope then requires almost no alt clutch, even at 90 degrees altitude.
2.5 Lb Counterweight
Excellent low cost solution for my problem of too much backweight. On my C5e with a smaller vixen rail I was not able to balance my scope. This Vixen or Losmandy system solved it easily. I even purchased the 1.5LB counterweight, for more versaltility Highly recommend it!!!
