Not happy with what i received, tripod very unsteady, couldn’t find the sun in the scope, waist of money, better off with the cardboard eclipse glasses

Simple and portable view of the sun

This is a light, simple and fast to set up and very portable device for viewing the sun. My rating is based on what it is advertised as doing. It is not a high magnification, tracking devise. If that is what you want or need, then you will have to spend more, Some reviewers have complained that the tripod is not more stable. The telescope is light and the tripod is adequate If I were going to use it in my backyard then I would probably use one of my more solid camera tripods. A friend who has one of these sets explained that he uses it to get a fast view of the sun, if there are sun spots then he sets up a larger scope on a tracking mount. I'll do the same. The alignment tool is ridiculously simple and fast.

Does this fit the standard 1/4" tripod screws? Can I attach the scope to the better tripod I use with my D-SLR?
Asked by: David
Yes, the dovetail contains a threaded 1/4"-20 hole, so it can be attached to a standard tripod with a 1/4"-20 screw.

Could I add a Vixen-style dovetail to the scope to mount it on a budget tracking mount like the Coronado EQS Equatorial Mount with RA Motor (COCEQST)?
Asked by: David
Yes, the EclipsSmart 50 Solar Telescope comes with a threaded ¼”-20 mounting hole, so a short Vixen-style dovetail can be attached to it.
