This Set of Mattes for LMB-25 & MB-19 Matte Boxes (5-Pack) from ARRI is compatible with LMB-25/-15/-5 and MB-19 matte boxes. Each matte mounts on the front of your matte box and covers one of five focal length ranges. The mattes are used to prevent flares by blocking extraneous light from entering the matte box.

While some may want flares and lens hits... if you ever need to be assured there's no tiny spot flares or filter reflections going on that post and client will be unhappy about later, then these need to be in the kit as insurance. If you're shooting your own stuff and think flares are always cool-you can wait on getting these separately. I do recommend just getting the full Arri LMB kit with all the goodies-the value is better than piecemeal orders and you realize how many individual items are included.
