It works on my Moto 5G Plus (with Android 8.1.0). The micro connector plugs directly into the phone, the larger connector into my computer (not at the same time of course). It did not need an adapter. On the phone it shows up as "SanDisk USB drive" in Files or in the "File Manager +" app. I've never had a Samsung, so I can't say whether that is different.

Older phones might not be able to read it. That has been my experience. Might want to try a 32G. The 32G worked on my LG but anything bigger would not work.

I bought this exact item just 1 month ago and found that it gets very hot when plugged into my laptop or phone even when it is just idle with no data transfer. Has anyone else experienced this?
Regarding an issue similar to this SanDisk has said:
