Braun Novoscan Overview

Digitize your 35mm negatives and slides as well as your small 3.5 x 5", 4 x 6", and 5 x 7" prints with this NovoScan 3-in-1 Film and Photo Scanner from Braun. It uses a 5.1MP CMOS sensor that provides an optical resolution of 1800 x 1800 dpi, as well as an interpolated resolution of 3600 dpi, to create finely detailed scans of your film and photographs. It also features a color depth of 24-bit and will produce a scan in about 2 seconds.

For ease of use, this scanner features auto exposure and color balance along with a 2.4" color LCD screen to preview images. It can save scans directly to an SD/SDHC, MMC, or Memory Stick/Memory Stick PRO card and features a USB 2.0 interface for both power and data transfer to a computer.

I bought a very expensive Braun slide projector a few years back from B&H, where I've bought all my equipment for decades. The projector automatic slide feed mechanism broke. I called B&H and they told me they don't know who can fix it, it would need to be shipped to Germany. It is now a big paper weight that can be fed one slide at a time manually. Buy nothing expensive you can't have repaired in The USA.

The documentation is somewhat difficult to comprehend. However, I use an SD Memory Card and it works very well. I do not think it can save directly to the computer.

Yes because it dose not hook up to your computer it is self contained. You put an sd card in t and the film it scans it didgitizes it and puts it on the card then you can down load off of the card works very well.

No it does not crop any part of the slide. It copies the entire slide.To crop you need to use any photo editing program you may have on your computer.
