Constructed of CNC machined 6061 aircraft-grade anodized aluminum, the base will support up to 25 lb and features a total of 30 degrees of leveling capability. A large bubble helps hasten the leveling process. The base can be removed to reveal the integrated TA-3-VB video bowl which will accept any head or accessory compatible with a 75mm video bowl.

The TA-3 Leveling Base with Platform and Hook from Really Right Stuff is a useful foundation for all types of tripod heads and is suitable as a panorama base. Compatible with the Really Right Stuff Versa Series 3 tripods, this version has a platform and a hook to attach weighty objects to stabilize the tripod. Constructed of CNC machined 6061 aircraft-grade anodized aluminum, the base will support up to 25 lb and features a total of 30 degrees of leveling capability. A large bubble helps hasten the leveling process. The base can be removed to reveal the integrated TA-3-VB video bowl which will accept any head or accessory compatible with a 75mm video bowl.

    This 75mm adapter is a perfect match for the 3-Series Gitzos. I use this to get additional +-15 degree movement for my home made Pan & Tilt head.

    I feel stupid for trying to buy the knock offs and expecting close to this level of quality. Just like the tripod it sits on, this is a premium product and worth the money. I like the larger rubber grip used to tighten the base once you level it out. It has a large angle it can rotate also, much more than my induro. Im an RRS customer for life if the quality of their products remain at the quality they are now. I like to purchase something once, use it as intended, even rough use, and have it last for life if possible. I feel that way about every RRS product I have purchased.

    As a landscape photographer this a must have item. Saves a tremendous amount of time leveling your tripod in the field. The base is pricey but exceptionally well built.

    Great quality. The longer handle makes it easy to adjust the head. Hook is always useful. It also fits well on my Robus Vantage Series 3 tripod.

    Fits right into my TVC-34L after taking the tripod flat plate off. No adapter or separate bowl needed. Everything comes with this unit. Super smooth in movement and it locks down easily and securely. Easy to level exactly via the torque and fine control supplied by the length of the handle.

    Bought the items last August to pair with RRS 33S tripod. I do like the concept of the design as it is convenient to adjust the level of the camera or ballhead attached to it. Lately i noticed when i about to tighten the half bowl, the rubber grip will slip and rotate hence i could not fully tighten the half bowl. Apparently the rubber grib does not secure or glued properly with the handle. Really disappointed with this as it is not a cheap product.

Lately I notice the rubber grib at the handle will slip and rotate when I about to fully tighten the bowl. wWas that the design or intention? it made me frustrated that the bowl seems couldnt fully tightened.     The description states that this levelling base will also fit a Gitzo Systematic series 3 tripod. Since the top plate on a Series 3 tripod is exactly the same size as a Series 2 Systematic tripod, this base must also fit Series 2 and I also believe Series 4 then. True or False?

    The TA-3 comes with a 75 mm bowl which is identical in diameter to the Gitzo 75 mm leveling base (designed for Series 2, 3 and 4 Systematic tripods). Reading around the forums I noticed some users reporting that the TA-3's 75 mm bowl, however, cannot take advantage of the spider lock on the Gitzo. This can be easily resolved by swapping out the TA-3's bowl with the Gitzo bowl.
