    High grade quality, but....

Because the impeccable quality, I own several RRS products and I don't mind the higher price as long as it is an American company that also manufactures in the USA. But, I have a little discontent with this ball head because the lock lever has a very narrow range of action. The ball head transitions from locked to free fall within millimeters. There is a reason why ball heads usually have a friction knob: to avoid a potential mishap. Perhaps it is needless to say, but if you are used to the friction knob, you better stay focused using this ball head before bad things happen.

Great little ball head. Locks my Nikon Z 70-200 and body in place at any angle. Expensive but awesome.

The RRS website shows a Full Size Screw Knob option for the BH-30. That option is not shown on the B&H website. Is it an option from B&H?
    Asked by: Michael
My ball head is exactly the same as on the RRS web site, and the B&H site. Works great, used for trip to Italy in April. The only difference I see is on RRS website, one photo shows knob with long shank when all the rest show short shank on the knob. The knob is perfect.

    question

Is the Kirk BL-D800 L-Bracket compatible with the Really Right Stuff BH-30 with screw knob? I've already got the kirk plate for my larger Kirk ballhead, but I'm looking for a lighter travel head and I think this one will fit the bill assuming the plate will work with it.
    Asked by: Brian
I also have a Kirk BH-1 on my full size tripod. The Kirk L bracket I have on my D810 works great with both tripod heads. I am very pleased with how secure the Really Right Stuff BH-30 is with the Kirk L bracket.
