Yongnuo YN600 RGB Reviews

Over engineered & too heavy

Yongnuo tried to cram way too many features int this light. just wanted something more powerful than my old YN300 but this thing weighs too much and has too many cutesy stuff. Glad it was cheap.

Big bang for the buck

If you have a lot of cash burning a hole in your pocket, then by all means pick up the Arri Skypanel S60-C, Litepanels Gemini, or Digital Sputnik DS-1. If like me, you're on a budget, then you owe it to yourself to pick up a couple of these LED panels. I did a review of the YN600's little brother, the YN360 wand, so check that out, as these lights provide essentially the same outcome, with similar albeit slightly nuanced controls - with one important exception. Since the YN600 RGB and 3200K/5500K circuits are powered separately, you can run them simultaneously. Meaning you can reduce the color saturation on these panels, by bringing in touch of daylight to suit your taste. Which, in turn, means you can use a pair of these as creative primary lights (e.g. tungsten key, teal fill, etc.) without needing gels. I recommend you pick up a couple YN360's while you're at it, to splash some color on your backgrounds. You won't regret it. Now you can paint your scenes with color like the big dogs, but at a fraction of the cost of the aforementioned Hollywood heavyweights.

question

Is there a trick to getting the remote to work with this? My remote won't seem to even turn on.
Asked by: Adam
Make sure the batteries have a charge, are inserted into the remote and light correctly and everything is on. If still no, it may be a repair issue. I would suggest contacting B&H Customer Service to arrange an exchange or return. https://bhpho.to/2caRE5L

question

How soft is the diffusion on this light? Is there any extra diffusion I can purchase separately?
Asked by: Fred W.
The diffusion on this light is quite soft, but if you wanted to add more diffusion, there is the Rosco E-Colour #250 1/2 White Diffusion (21 x 24 Sheet) B&H # ROE250S. This can be cut to size and attached to the panel using ProTapes Pro Gaffer Tape (2 x 12 yd, Black) B&H # PRGT12B.

question

Will the yn600RGB work with 2 - np-fv100 batteries?
Asked by: Alex W.
I'm afraid not. This light is powered by Sony NP-F style batteries, not NP-FV style. We have very nice kits from Dracast that feature two batteries and a charger. They are B&H Numbers DRBK2NPF2200 and DRBK2NPF6600.https://bhpho.to/2lO5VaOhttps://bhpho.to/2qxMAxq

question

Is this light good for filming at 240fps?
Asked by: NICHOLAS
Yongnuo has not posted what are the flicker-free FPS rates for their lights. You would have to test before you do a job. Other solutions would be to use sunlight or incandescent fixtures.
